Why have Spectrasonics skimped on the synth part of Trillian!?

So I was super excited about todays release of Trillian but am incredibly disapponted by the synth side which is the draw-card for me. There us something like a total of 50 presets. I know there are heaps of individual wave-form samples, but where are the patches? I'm crossing my fingers that there will be an update with hundreds of new patches in the very near future..

Heya Jonny - what's up mate! Glen C here.

Stoked to hear Trillian is out ... no more ridiculous CPU usage to get those great elec bass samples on Mac under the crappy VST wrapper mode for Trilogy.

Bummer about the synth bass section, although I just got a Minimoog recently so actually enjoying doing all my synth bass with the real thing now

Will there be more new synth patches?
Yes!
The current 1.0 library is just a small demo library of the synth capabilities of Trilian. Hundreds of new patches will be released shortly and we also plan to add many more in the future.

It's super-easy to make your own with what's there too. Lot's and lot's of control. But yea, there is more tasty goodness to come. Meanwhile, pop open that edit screen and have some fun!

Best,

Best,

Don't get me wrong I love bacing my own patches and combining different synths wave-forms etc - I do this all the time in Omnisphere, and come up with some great results, but still I'm no Eric Persing if you get my drift..

So do we know for sure there will be an update for Synth presets in the near future or is that speculation?

Trilian definitely will have some more synth patches in a later update. Details as to when this will be out have not been announced. For now, however, enjoy the content that is there. There are already some very inspiring patches that the Spectrasonics team have developed !

true
the 45 included synthpatches are a great appetizer.
I especially like the ones that use the arpeggiator.
Instant electro!
I am sure Spectrasonics will keep their promise and release more patches real soon.
For now there is already a lot of great stuff to keep me busy on the low end.

No worries....there will be hundreds of patches by the end of the week and many, many, many more as the months go on.

The important thing to get right are the soundsources, so that's what we focused on in getting the masters out the door. Patches are easy to add, soundsources are not.

Over 30 models of synths and 333 soundsources already. :-)

The synth part of Trilian is SUPER Killer and you'll love all the new models and what you can do with the new filters and the custom controls.

Check out the Interface and Synth videos here:

Spectrasonics - Trilian - Videos

I think you'll dig it. Enjoy! :-)

Yes....the first update will be out by the end of the week and there will be several big synth patch library updates this year.

Believe me, you are going to be choking in awesome synth goodness incredibly soon. ;-)

Give us a heads up when you have tested it. I get the free update as intel mac user so its a no brainer for me. Wasn't super excited about the update but after watching the synth videos above am def excited to sort my update now.

Trilian Update Issues

Hey party people.

Just wondering if any of you might know why i'm having install/update issues? I've already checked the spectrasonics knowledge base and send a support request...But I'm antsy....

When I try to do the updates It fails and gives me the "preflight script" error.

I'm on a MAC/10.5.8 (Steam is on external drive)

In the knowledge base is says I need to choose the install location of the folder CONTAINING the STEAM folder..... But the installer doesn't give me the option of choosing a specific folder - it only lets me choose the drives. I've tried moving the steam folder to the root menu of the drive (and creating the alias etc) but the update install still fails...

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

From what I have read, Metasonix wasn't aware of the use of it's name and synth.
What about Cwejman and Moog LP, SE etc...?

Definitely not fair to use them without permission.

Not fair?? It's the best form of advertising ever!
Imagine how many people get inspired by some of the patches made from these synths and go out and buy the real deal..
I know Trilogy had that affect on me.

Sorry, I don't see this that way, The analogue market is small, even very small for brand like Metasonix, some people will prefer to buy Trillian instead of several synths.

And the point is to inform them, it shouldn't be otherwise.

And more important : Eric from Metasonix doesn't seem to be pleased...

he didnt actually say that, he just said he had no idea that they were using Metasonix.

It's great advertising for metasonix, nobody who was going to buy a wretch would settle for a few patches on trilogy.

The synth video looks excellent. I wasn't going to buy this but after seeing the video I think I will stump up. Quick question for anybody that owns the product / works for Spectrasonics:
Do I have to install the Trillian library in exactly the same location as my Omnisphere library? My omnisphere library is on an SSD which is very close to running out of space. If I install to a different drive, will I still be able to open the Trillian patches / sound sources from within Omnisphere?

Hey FritzyCakes,

You are choosing the "custom install" option, correct? If you use that option, you should be able to navigate to your external drive and choose the folder that is one level above the STEAM folder. You will need to do this for every disc installer you run. Just make sure you don't select the STEAM folder itself as the destination and it should work.

Best,

I posted a bunch of Trilian demosongs on my vimeopage
shows a tiny bit of the variety you get with the package
Trilian on Vimeo
one of the clips features exclusively the synthstuff

Does Trillian do any Round Robin sample selection in the Synth bass samples to make it sound more natural? Or alternative sample start point?

Yeah thats what the old Trilogy lacked. hope these features are included in Trillian.

Can anyone tell me how trillian would run on a 2gb ram 2.4quad pc?
System req. is 4gb ram, - just how bloodthirsty is this one?

Is there a 'delay' evrytime you filck through the sounds like there was on omnisphere?
