Thread Starter | Using hardware inserts during ITB mixdown
I keep reading about this technique and how it sonically comes close to mixing OTB. How is this done , and how is latency controlled ? U would need many channels of conversion for this technique , i'm assuming. I post this in this forum as i am more interested in electronic/synth based musicians who use this and want to know about which tracks they send to which kind of outboard. Thanks Faisal |

you don't need to have several channels going at once. I print 1 track at a time through my outboard. It forces me to keep moving forward. |

Attach the out to the in and the in to the out. Assign the I/O to a send and return, adjust for system and the hardwares latency and your "on" Works great! I've been doing that for about 10 years now. Kaz You can also print your effects to tracks if you have the extra track count. |

The latency adjustment is different on each of the software so you will need to look that up based on what you using. In theory it just sends the audio a little sooner to allow for the end result correctly in time. Kaz |

| I wouldn't say easily. I havent tried the new version 9 "enhancements" to it, but I always preferred going out of the d/a and into a box and coming back in to record w/o the insert feature, just a work preference. i use a mixdream so that helps. It works in Logic yes, but there have been a few threads about people complaining about latency issues. My way works pretty spot on, maybe others will chine in on there success.
