power supply for novation sl mkii

well im trying to use the midi outs on my novation sl mkii keyboard
but i need a psu to make it work

it says i need a 9v 1000mAMP DC psu with center positive
but the novation psu's have less than 1000mAMP
would that work with my controller?

anyways i need help finding a psu for the controller
do i need to worry about any feedback from the psu?

i tried looking for a psu with those rating on zzounds but they dont have any?

any help would be appreciated!

I have the old Novation REmote and used a third-party supply iirc it was 9v 1.5a.

Polarity on DC is important, Voltage can be +/-1v, Amperage can be close enough with higher being better. Some wall-warts can work with slightly higher requirements but heat up considerably.

As with wattage (VxA=W), amperage ratings are the MAXIMUM that the device could require. Of course actual use will be less than rated.

hey thanks for the response
so jsut to clarify...

i need a psu that is
9v DC
1amp more or less (so if it was rated say .5amps, that could overheat my controller? but if the amp rating is greater than 1amp, say 2amps it would still be safe to use?)
and center pin positive of course

thanks

Yep more than 1amp is fine. The adaptor would overheat and fail if it's not rated high enough.

I just bought a universal one for my Zero MkII, like $5 and it works fine. The plug comes out easily but it's all the correct voltage, polarity and all that.

It's pretty awesome that you have to have a 'optional' wall wart to use it with MIDI cables and by awesome I mean:

ahhh.. thanks for reminding me. I've just spent the best part of two days trying to find what I now realise is my non-existent power supply.

.
in addition, when powered up properly, it's sending weird midi messages into logic and although the keyboard/transport/mixer side controls seem solid, the whole left hand bank and HUI seems to have a life of it's own - banks changing, lights going on and off for no reason - virtually unusable.

quite possibly, but opening it up to check / sort out would *void the warranty* i'd be stuck with a lemon

bottom line - i've lost confidence in the product.

hope your experience is different.

so i got it changed for an M Audio Oxygen 25.

The keyboard action (bit spongy) is not as good as the novation but critically IT WORKS STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. No sysex OS updates, No random midi messages, no banks switching in and out, no powering on and off mid-take. One direct link download and running as advertised.

Now i'm recording in Logic with nothing getting in the way.

Thanks M Audio.
