I know the pains of not having access to sales figures and label managers going MIA or suddenly their "out of the country on tour". Really disheartening.

In the beginning sometimes you have to get beat just to get yourself out there. For me, I rather have a track out there for people to enjoy and DJs to play then it sit on my HD. Of course that only lasts so long until you want and deserve more and more for your hard work.

To compound on msl's previous comment, another bonus to doing a remix is for the recognition. SWAN808...you might not have gotten paid but now you can piggy back your name with James Zabiela and the Renassance brand and use that as leverage for better deals with (hopefully) a better label.

BTW... congrats on winning.

Hi Jacques. Thank you for the response although my post wasn't intended for one. Don't get it twisted...I wasn't trying to bash Beatport in any way. It's actually the only shop I download from and spend several thousands of dollars each year on supporting the music I play.

The comment was made due to frustration because one of my tracks was mislabeled on Beatport and the label nor myself could ever get it fixed. The same auto-response email was sent that stated something along the lines of "Beatport has received a lot of emails and will try and answer them as soon as possible".

That was frustrating for me but after a while I just gave up on it. I actually made a clause for my contracts that states the following to avoid this issue in the future!

Writer’s name should be represented as XXX and only XXX on all copies of the Musical Composition mentioned in Schedule “A”. Publisher is responsible for ensuring Writer’s name is accurately represented on each printed copy, each on-line (Digital) copy, and each piano-forte copy sold on any platform by Publisher or its licensee(s) in the territory of Universe.

In any event sorry if I offended you or your colleagues. Like I said, Beatport is my go-to shop and I promote it on all of my websites.
