What softsynth is this?

I read an interview in which Oyamada Keigo mentions, 'new synth software' that models different surfaces like metal and wood and so forth. I've heard this synth a lot of places, not sure what it is:

YouTube - CORNELIUS "Like A Rolling Stone"

(the bouncing sounds)

Any help greatly appreciated.

Not necessarily new - physical modeling software has been around for a while.

See Tassman 4 - Applied Acoustics Systems

Pianoteq has used physical modeling for the piano, EP and vibe sounds in their plugins; instead of a multi-gigabyte library you get a plugin of 12 MB or so.

You can also do physical modeling with hardware synths - Nord Modular G2, Yamaha VL-series, Korg Z1. It depends of course on the available model; flutes and bowed strings are completely different with different settings.

Thanks, I will check this out.

I think 'new' in this case is referring to the particular software rather than the concept.

I could be wrong, but it sounds to me like you are referring to Spectrasonics Omnisphere.
