Stolen Gear : Raglani's gear stolen from his van in Brooklyn after No Fun Fest

Just saw this unfortunate posting on Brooklyn Vegan....

This is far too common in NYC, I believe the crooks are fairly organized and stake out venues for vehicles.

Raglani's gear stolen from his van in Brooklyn after No Fun Fest (look for it - full list posted) - BrooklynVegan

There wasn't a contact email or number included in the posting but I'm sure he is reachable via Myspace.

(*Admin can this be made a sticky in the appropriate forum for a short while?)

Raglani's gear stolen from his van in Brooklyn after No Fun Fest

St Louis's Riverfront Times reports, "Terrible news out of New York, where local experimental artist Raglani performed at the esteemed No Fun Fest on Friday night [at Music Hall of Williamsburg]. From a message Eric Hall left on my Facebook page":

Just to let you know, after playing No Fun Fest in NYC last night Joe Raglani's van was broken into and all of his equimpent was stolen. This includes the very expensive and rare synth he's spent years building up from modular parts and many other unique and custom devices. Needless to say, the rest of his tour has been cancelled. He'll likely need encouragement to motivate himself to begin anew. I'd hate our community to lose his output.

The painful list of stolen gear below...
Raglani's Stuff stolen:

Moog Voyager Old School White Wash
Moog VX-351 Expander with cable
Moog Voyager Case (Raglani Stenciled in Black)
Sequential Circuits Pro One (J-Wire) With black Plastic case.
TWO Traynor KB-4 Keyboard amps. (Raglani Stenciled in white on bottom)
Pedal Board case
Flower Electronics Little Blue Boy Deluxe Custom build modular synth
with wood sides.
3ms (4MS) Noise Swash Pedal. Silver
Boss Super Shifter (blue pedal)
Boss re-201? SPACE ECHO PEDAL NEW.
SONY walkmen
behrienger 12 channel Mixer (silver)
Moog Ring Modulator moogerfooger pedal
Line 6 DL4 delay modeler.
Shure Microphone beta 51
DJ case with new headphones and tools. All my patch cords. Including
several expensive adaptors and color cables.

Mac powerbook laptop computer
Garwin GPS

Steve Hauschildt's stolen gear
Moog Micromoog with flight case
Moog Lowpass filter moogerfooger pedal
Frostwave resonator filter pedal
Akai Headrush pedal
Boss Graphic EQ (white Pedal)
E.H. Small Stone Phaser pedal.
Behrenger xenix mixer
Various cables and adaptors

Unhappy

i feel ya, i had a micromoog stolen. i did kinda get back at 'em though, in a small way. it was broken when they stole it. everything they took was broken actualy.

i still hope that person falls down an open manhole. one of the 30 footer's for the sanitary sewer.

but god damn. i dunno if i could live through that amount of stolen gear. i might just end it after a hit like that. some however have been innovative with a unfortunate event such as that. the blackouts roland barker had his synth stolen so he played sax instead. worked out great.

who steals another mans gear honestly?

ugh. that makes me pretty ill.

I usually sleep w/ my gear on the road. But I'm pretty sure I'm going to start GPS bugging my stuff. It's not too expensive to do that, and promises a very redeeming visit to some crook's house.

Brian Jonestown Massacre had their gear stolen when they played the same venue a few years ago. Parking a van full of gear near a well known venue is something that should be done with caution. That blows.

Use miniature GPS tracking transmitters, they last for months.

if you traced your gear back to the guy's house and there it was, along with him, and you killed him. Would you be in deep trouble or would it be a crime of passion?

this is why you don't ever leave your gear in a van or in the venue itself unattended. if your touring you don't go off and party or see the sights, you take it on as a work situation and you're not there to have fun but to provide a performance and get the hell out of dodge when you're done performing and are loaded up again. if you have to stay overnight at a hotel you pick a motel type situation where you can park directly outside your room, or you only pick a hotel with secured parking.

any gigging musician should have insurance anyway, it's a minimal cost of around $400 a year for around a million dollars worth of theft and personal injury insurance if you hunt around.

and anyone who brings out a rare or valuable instrument live is begging for something to happen to it. theft is the least of your worries, most places have several drunks in them that like to do stupid shit like throw crap or spill crap. you don't need to have it stolen to have it dissapear, one idiot with a habit of throwing water from his bottle on a crowd can kill your item on stage if he's drunk enough. let alone a hick/punk venue where there's chicken wire around the stage for a reason and the crowd thinks it's funny to throw bottles at the wire to try to shock the players.
