Thread Starter | Live Electro House Kick (Sub Kick - Vs. SPDS) & Mic Selection EDIT: I moved this thread to the Drum forum. Hi all, My live band is heavily influenced by electro house music and I am trying to get a sound that would be comparable to a standard low frequency range electro kick. The Sub kick mic is an option, but the frequency it resonates at cannot be tuned between songs. SPDS is another option, I would load the tuned 808 kick for each song into the unit and hook up an acoustic drum trigger to our drummer's kick drum. Also, wondering about micing and mic placement. We were thinking of micing the kick drum at the front head for the attack, and either use the sub kick mic for the lows or the spds directly to the board for the load 808s. Which mics would you recommend for the attack of the kick? Do we have any other options other than Sub Kick, SPDS and just a backing track with an 808 (which is what we are using right now)? Thanks in advance, Michael |
