Making money of techo/house music

I was just wondering how do techno/house producers make money because I've been confused in this matter. I know some producers DJ but what about he ones that don't and only compose the beat/music. How do they make money??? Do they sell/lease their beats to people, DJ's, record companies ???

RedOne on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Videos

anyway...
if you want fast money, become a meth, cannabis, XTC, Crack Cocaine, Ketamine, PCP, Angel Dust, LSD producer,

not a music producer.

become a pimp,

these days on the non-mainstream level releasing records in the house music scene is about PR and promotion to get DJ gigs - where you make the money...

Labels make very little money these days...apart from on BIG releases which are out on the biggest labels...

Most of the artists I have worked with make their money from live gigs or DJing. Their releases are just a profile builder. A record company is lucky to break even these days, unless they get into promotion and tour people.

you would have more potential to make money from your music through inclusion in TV or radio advertising...

Depends on the music and the label you have your music signed to. If you sign to a shit label that has no idea of what they are doing, there is a good chance you wont make any money, which is probably true of any genre of music. If you find a Label that knows what they are doing from the top down, then there is a good chance that your good music will do good things for the label, which in turn would net you some decent money.
