May - new gear thread

Bought it from Gearslutz member Mook. What a great seller! And a great guy too. He gave it for dirt cheap. (sorry can't tell the price, but it was really a good one, we are old time buddies back from Harmony Central).

Thanks (for giving me advice) to: oldgearguy, phelan kane, joliver, cosmos, beermaster and the rest of the gang!!! (remember my SH-5 vs SH-7 thread)

Oh... the sound of this thing is simply: MAGNIFICENT !!!

Very very nice, Don

I got this yesterday, but was too drunk to post in the April gear thread:

Nowhere near as impressive as an SH-5, but it's fun and runs on batteries. PWM reminds me of C64.

I love that it says "YAMAHA" upside-down, because you're obviously going to want to wear that on a strap like a "keytar" when you perform live, and want to make sure everybody knows what kind of "axe" you're "rocking".

Got a Mono Evolver Keyboard day before yesterday. I am soooo in love. Also gotta love Dave Smith's support. For once, there was an OS update that actually remedied a bug I was experiencing!

Got an MFB Kraftzwerg yesterday. Still need to wait for a proper power supply to come in from AH, but via CV, this thing is just a freakin' monster!

Any chance of posting some wav samples on that Kraftzwerg thread Derp?

Well its 27 digits more but a whole lot less slutty than Don's purchase!
Just got it on thursday locally for €150, only had time tonight to get into it, nice little box, instant detroit pads and strings if your into that sorta thing.

Not a chance. I'm soundcard free at the moment so recording stuff to the VS-890, then burning it to CD, then ripping from CD to .wav... I love you guys, but you're just not worth that kind of effort!

Scored an Akai S700 for next to nothing, although the Quick Disk drive seems to be shot.... Still totally worth it. Amazing sounding machine, and capable of just getting nasty with the 1.6 khz min. bandwidth setting!

compared to rarity factor of this gem, a Yamaha CS-80 is as common as McDonalds burger.. you just got the synth used for that metallic chorused sound on Oxygene 4, i saw Jarre play it live last fall. truly a piece of history.

is it in full working order? i hope youll post some examples, as u always do. i d love to hear what can it do..

@Don: congratulations. im coming over to try that baby.. it looks its in beautiful shape. are you back home or still living in that tunnel ?

as for me, nothing as spectacular, but still, my rhodes will be happy - i just bid BIN on this gem while posting on GS:

LOL! The tunnel. Actually it's not that hard. In fact i have a female driver (damn good looking one) so it's hard to say it's boring at all.

Now, back to biz. You can come by anytime upcoming weeks. But! It would be cool if you could re-buy the Dynacord Add One back. I need cash for MiniMoog OS. Dynacord is indeed crazy beast, BUT i no longer got time for messing around with different hardware. I need money by 01 July which is when i'm picking up the LAST produced Voyager OS (already reserved).

@pop bott, zmoorhs and the rest: i stolez the pic from teh web. My pics look way better than that - but you know that already. Unfortunately i have no time for taking photos at the moment, don't worry they will appear in the Pics thread. The unit i purchased does have some scratches, however, these are no much concern as it's more important of what's inside. I also got a BIG bag of hiqh quality electrolyte capacitors which will go inside to replace the old ones (though, in general, all SH series already have GOOD caps, that stand very well even these days).

In the past 3 months, almost immediately after I told myself "I need to start selling some gear that I don't use anymore", I did exactly the opposite.

Added in the past 3 months:
Machinedrum MKII UW
Monomachine MKII
Drumulator
Atari Mega ST
8-core Mac Pro
Mackie C4 Pro
Bleep Labs Bitblob
Bleep Labs Thingamakit
...and I'm still on the hunt for several more synths that I suddenly "need".

I have a sickness.

That SH-5 should have been mine!!
I can tell; you are going next time to a tunnel by foot

Gratzz Don and if you need money for OS you know I can help you out
by taking yours OB-x or Jupiter 8.

MAY = Tax Refund Month

Haven't gotten mine yet, but like a true irresponsible gear addict, I'm already spending in anticipation. At least I know the Fed's good for it, unlike some labels, distributors, or the State of California.

Ordered (in order of my lust):

Demeter RV-1 Analog Spring Reverb
4MS Triwave Picogenerator "The Works" with LFO reset buttons
Jomox T-Resonator
Steven Slate 3.0

It was either these or Future Retro XS. Can't do both this month. At the end, I decided to plug in that Waldorf Pulse that's in the rack and have some fun with it and effects.

I guess i was lucky for the SH-5 for having a such a good buddy as Mook is, else i'd throw the whole bag of money in getting one given the rate these days. By now you probably know that PS-3100 you asked about won't go below 4,200US which is ridiculous.

Still you should get some vintage in the meantime, cause by the time your MOTM system gets shipped(!), i'll be an old man with grey hair and two daughters: Andromeda & Juno; and a son called Obi Wan (OB-1).

Offtopic: that's a 98% pulse wave you got there in the avatar buddy - and i thought you prefer FAT sounds.
