Studio Electronics SE-1/SE-1X Envelope Mod

I just bought a Studio Electronics SE-1 the other day off of eBay. I was doing some research before I bought it and stumbled on the envelope mod which supposedly speeds up the attack speed. It looks simple enough to do. Has anybody done this mod and if so, how does it sound before/after?

SE1/SE1X upgrade tutorial

Scroll down halfway

I did this one for my SE-1 (same envs as SE-1X), got a little better, but I would like them way faster...

That's the page I stumbled on before. According to some others here who've sent their SE-1's to Studio Electronics, they replaced two resistors apparently. I can't help but wonder where the second resistor was and if replacing that also would help speed it up some more?

I did the mod a few years ago and felt that you lose more than you gain by introducing some very ugly fuzz into the release stage.

Get a Voyager if you want snappy and enjoy the SE1 for everything else it does.

I had a Nova Musik ed. SE-1X which supposedly has the faster envelopes (no switch though). I didn't think it was very snappy, makes me wonder how slow the standard SE-1's are. The Omega/ATC is supposed to be faster, I have yet to try either though.

I had an SE1x and an ATC1 and ATCxi - none of them are very responsive or snappy

Well that sucks. I really like their gear, the SE-1X sounded great, but the slow envs just killed it for me. That and I needed money at the time, so the expensive monosynth was first to go. Replaced it w/ a snappier (and much cheaper) Pulse.

I got a Moog SOurce and I love it. Although if I was doing it again I'd take a long hard look at the new SEM...a tight feel of the envelopes is so important I think...although if you are doing slower temp music like Hip Hop or RnB perhaps its not such a problem. And the bass on those SE synths is SOLID. Like a big fat rock bumping around the low end.
