I've found that you can get pretty far with not all that much.

A delay pedal is really useful, as is a distortion/fuzz or two. I don't think you need a chorus, but some might disagree. The Moog Ring Mod is really useful I think.

So just get a reasonable delay (Line 6 DL-4 is pretty useful here), a nifty fuzz (doesn't have the be the highest quality, just fun sounding), and the moog ring mod. Gets you pretty far in opening up the sounds of the synth I think.

Hi there and welcome to GS!

What about a Korg Kaoss Pad?
It's definitely a blast to use live.thumbsup

That's a good suggestion. It has a well rounded selection of effects and the KP3 can even double as a sampler.

If you're really wanting a floor pedal I've found the Digitech RP series to be very impressive sounding for the price. The amp and cabinet models sound very full and lively. The fuzz and wah effects are quite convincing and they're also using some lower end Lexicon reverb algorithms that sound great. They come bundled with a useful software editor and the brand new ones even have some limited looping capabilities.

My current live set up includes:

Moog Little Phatty
Korg Kaoss Pad KP3
Blackstar HT Dist valve distortion pedal
Aria ADL-1 analog delay pedal

I sometimes have the LP going directly through the KP3 as an insert, which most of the time is set to a high pass filter (so I have LPF on the moog and HPF on the kaoss).

The analog delay pedal was £40 on ebay and is great if you can't afford a moogerfooger also the Blackstar is a great sounding valve distortion, with the added benefit of a speaker simulator output so you can use it straight in to the desk. Much better than a POD. I know the LP has the overdrive control, but sometimes that's too overpowering in a mix - some valve distortion is a bit smoother especially for using the LP to churn out 303-style sounds.

I tend to use the following:

Channel 1: Moog sound
Channel 2: Return from valve distortion pedal + delay pedal
Aux 1: to the pedals
Aux 2: back into the Moog

You can get some crazy sounds with this setup live, with both channels being able to feed in to the other one. With the delay in there, its great. And then the Kaoss pad sits over the whole mix and eats it up bitcrusher style thumbsup
