... Both Skinny Puppy and Nine Inch Nails were both making albums in LA at the same time... it was trippy... sin-a-matic, stigmatta... all of my dead brain cells are scattered about those clubs!

Actually, I like VNV, and have known Ronan and Mark for about a decade, but back then there was no such thing as future pop. Advance and Follow is pretty much straight up ebm with movie samples, and hard beats, and the whole bit, and Praise the Fallen still fits into that category for the most part, but with some added trance elements (detuned leads, and the like)... then, somehow, a little while later "future pop" just appeared out of nowhere. At the time, revstate and I were trying to popularize ant-zen and hands productions style "power noise", so I'm sure you can imagine how many floors we killed with our DJ sets. What's funnier, and even more confusing to a club crowd is if you mix the two together in the same set! Gotta love the reactions to that.
