Thread Starter | Big Problems with Novation Nocturne
I didn't see anything about this in another thread so: After installing Novation software, all plugins you want to use it with need to be wrapped with a custom shell that Novation uses for it's Automap functionality. The problem with this is: Plugins that are wrapped do not always end up in the folder you had them in before you wrapped them. For instance, all my UAD plugins were moved to a generic folder. My whole VST list is now discombobulated. Sessions that use plugins that were wrapped are apparently not finding the plugins, causing project incompatiblities, i.e. Cubase 4 sessions report missing all plugins that were on the project. This is presumably because Novation renames the plugins as it rewraps them, and for all I know they give plugins a different ID, so the host software just doesn't recognize them. Offline processing in Cubase 4 doesn't work, since the Novation Automap controls cover up the existing buttons. So all plugins that were wrapped can't be used in the offline process. This strikes me as particularly amateurish, since any decent piece of software shouldn't have been shipped with such an obvious defect. I found all this out in about an hour. I'm scared to death of what else I find, and already regretting my decision to by this. If old sessions are incompatible, I will have to remove the software completely and install all of my unwrapped plugins and VSTi's, which will really suck. I can't believe no one has mentioned any of this on the forum, but I did a search and didn't see anything. -Freematik |

I've complained here quite often about Novation's Autocrap technology. I felt pretty ripped off paying $600 for the nice keybed. The rest of the synth blows. Shoddy overall construction and half-assed software that does NOT automatically work as advertised. Also as you mentioned, weird things like putting my Stylus RMX plug-in into the Green Oak's Crystal folder...... | |

| Automap's the culprit?
Normally, I stick with the Audio Unit versions of my plugins, but I did notice that all my VST's had been moved into different locations, and I wasn't sure why. So, based on this thread, I'm guessing Automap may have done that? (I have a Remote 37SL controller) |
