HD25 = studio monitoring = somewhat flat i believe...i dont want taht...i want some NICE bass......i havent heard bass in my bedroom ever.

so ohm is purely about how much power they need to work?? its not to do with sound quality or bass?

i dont trust ebay for electronics like this...
the amount of Ohm is impedance - it's related to the amount of power to drive them.
look, don't go by numbers. it's not related to the listening experience.
a frequency plot would tell you more, but not all manufacturers give these or they give fake ones.
as far as ipods, and other electronicgadgets you can use the 70 or 60 Ohm headphones fine. most come with a minijack plug and extra jack.
I see a lot of ppl. use these HD 25 sp now as headphones for their personal player in the street.
I have no idea how to value non-professional headphones on accuracy, since I'm not really into those. if you can, try to listen before purchase.
I'm guessing a lot have a "smilie curve"
another issue is build quality. non professional stuff is made to fall apart after two years. (then you buy new ones, since you wouldn't want to be seen with 2 year old gear) I've used my HD-25-13 since 1997 for gigs dj stuff, studio and at home. and they still sound fine.
as with a lot of things, you get what you pay for.

elephants and blue whales hear below 20 Hz. If there's a lot information in the music below 20 Hz - something is wrong.

Unless you're listening to drone metal.

sennheiser HD228
bought them today. £50
Not as good bass as i thought. Not too loud either.
Sony earbuds half the price have more bass.

sennheiser, you have to hold them against ear to hear more bass....when you let go, its not as good......is this the case with ALL headphones?

i dont need a headphone amp to i? some people are talking about this.....
If you are getting a 600ohm version of any headphone, you'd need an amp. The lower the ohm, the more you can get away with not using an external headphone amp.

I just received a pair of markl mod Denon 2000s About Us
that I bought after extensive research for similar criteria. I am doing a burn-in tonight and doing some deep listening this weekend. These are highly regarded reference cans for electronica over at Head-Fi, with the plus being they can still be "used" without a headphone amp. I'll report back.

I have an old pair of Bose Around Ear TriPort something, and yesterday I decided to upgrade to Senheiser HD485, I have a friend that wants to sell them because he bought HD595. I haven't listened to headphones for almost 2 years. I got the HD485 from my friend, 6 month old, and just for fun I decided to compare them with my old pair of Bose. I knew Bose has very expensive products and they don't realy sound that good, almost every Pro hates them. Well............I had the biggest surprised EVER ! Bose just KILLED the HD485. OK, to be more specific : HD485 are more powerfull, for sure, but THAT'S IT !

Bose sound more natural, I can hear sounds that I can't hear on HD485, on Bose pair I can hear distinct rhythm, distinct bass, distinct bass vibrations when they appear in a song. On HD485 everything is mixed up, rhythm, bass & vibration are all in one ,,woofer,, sound. The HD485 gives me the impression that has an equalizer applied, and setup REAL BAD. Lots of medium frequencies are missing. On Bose I can hear the voice very clear and distinct, on HD485 the voice is behind all instruments, sounds very bad, and the low part of the voice is mixed up with the bass. I can go all day about this but I will stop for now.

I expected the HD485 to be superior, but Bose Around Ear TriPort are three times better. I know this is incredibble, but I played with them all day and belive me, is true. This Bose headphones are not perfect, I can find a lot wrong with them, but they ARE much better than Senheiser HD485

P.S. Sorry for my bad english. If you want a link to the Bose model I'm talking about just tell me, I'm not sure I'm allowed to post links to products

This is the Bose headphones I'm talking about Bose Around-Ear Headphones –Audio Headphones - Bose Headsets and Headphones

I have them for 3,5 years now, the only reason I got Bose is because I found a great deal in the neighborhood , I trade a DVD-Writer for them at that time, and they were like new. I only used them with a laptop onboard mostly for internet radio, but 2 days ago I plugged them to my M-Audio Fast Track Pro just to compare them with HD485 and I was blown away with the quality and accuracy they have.

But I am sure you WILL find out on your own (provided you don't have damaged ears) when you side-by-side them with WHATEVER new you buy.

Honest opinion. Not trying to antagonize or anything.

If I tell you a lot of people get the DT770 because of their bass response in the very low freqs that most headphones simply ignore, it's because I know it for a fact...

Oh, and there's no such thing as "inspirational headphones".

Professional headphones are designed for sound engineers ... It's cold , believe me . I always find that my music sounds more inspirational using an IPod than pro headphones . This is because the amp . Professional is another subject.

Always a song X sounds more inspirational in a club than in your studio , isn't it ?

Should I use headphones amp for my DT 770 ? Because it sounds fantastic but not so vigorous,forceful...
