What key are your songs usually in?

Since I use samples...I generally let my samples dictate what key the song is in...

Another one i use is the minor blues scale i think. I use it in C.

Btw, all the different minor keys should sound exactly the same, I beleive. The only difference is the range of pitches they cover. Although that could matter of course...

Why would you have to tune down to play in D? You can play in any key in any tuning

I believe he is referring to drop D tuning. Otherwise the lowest D you would have on a Bass Guitar would be the 10th fret on the 4th string which is not very low at all.
