Akai nailed it with that, those are going to sell like hot cakes. Pretty smart.

It looks like I ll be parting with my trusty uc33 with this one, I was planning on buying seperate parts and building nearly this, so if the price actually floats around 400 mark, I ll definetly get one.
This could be really good utilizing in live shows with ableton, and there are remarks in todays ableton newsletter that with the new max for live they ll have nice stuff with this as a trio (max, ableton, apc40)

Sorry to resurrect a year old thread but I just picked up an Akai APC40 today and spent 4 hours tonight jamming on it. I love Live for about 100 reasons and this thing makes it about twice as powerful for real time manipulations. I just wanna go on record that I freakin' love this thing. I wish it had motorized faders and more programmable knobs but I'll take it just like this and totally dig it.

It really is a nice device. Although oddly, it's hard for me to stop reaching for the mouse after so many years with Ableton. I sometimes forget the damn thing is sitting right in front of me.

In addition to motorized faders, I wish they would've integrated the drum pads from the LPD8 on it. Then it would be damn near perfect.

Also, I personally don't need them but I'm surprised they didn't put a basic 2 channel I/O interface and headphone output on it and make an all-in-one solution for live performance with a laptop. I could see a lot of people being excited about that.

Korg did.. It was called the Zero 8, and it failed.
