Prophet 08 good for old school electro funk?

I know that the Prophet 5 was used on a lot of 80's funk tracks, like prelude and D-train stuff, for its thick unison basses and chunky chord stabs. Heres some examples

But can the Prophet 08 achieve such old school funky thick unison basses and stabs like on the Prophet 5? It seems Arturias Prophet V is a good source for such sounds as demonstrated on the funk mp3, but i've seen it mentioned the difference between a Prophet 8 and 5 is like night and day, so wondering if the 8 can still do these types of sounds?

I'd say yes, even though I don't really own one.
You can create good funk sounds with pretty much any synth (from SK-1 to Virus and beyond)

yeah definitely, mine leads me in that direction a lot. great for cheesy electro lead lines too.
