Thread Starter | Prophet 08 good for old school electro funk?
I know that the Prophet 5 was used on a lot of 80's funk tracks, like prelude and D-train stuff, for its thick unison basses and chunky chord stabs. Heres some examples YouTube - D TRAIN and PAUl HARDCASTLE And heres Arturias Prophet V doing the funk thing... http://test.arturia.com/audio/prophe...s//Pfunk05.mp3 But can the Prophet 08 achieve such old school funky thick unison basses and stabs like on the Prophet 5? It seems Arturias Prophet V is a good source for such sounds as demonstrated on the funk mp3, but i've seen it mentioned the difference between a Prophet 8 and 5 is like night and day, so wondering if the 8 can still do these types of sounds? |

I'd say yes, even though I don't really own one. You can create good funk sounds with pretty much any synth (from SK-1 to Virus and beyond) |
