I love Robin S' "Show me love" and I always vogue to it.
Deadmau5 and Skrillex don't deserve to be famous.

I saw Skrillex live. I had a free ticket, chipped in $15 for gas, found $20 on the floor after everyone had left the room, so I made a profit on that show.

On a 5 stop short regional tour I never got paid for any of my gigs. (anyone a promoter in the TX/LA/MS/TN/AL/FL area that wants to help out next time?)

My first tracks were me just dragging samples into Audacity and looping them and doing really minimalistic arrangements with that.

My most recent album and my main liveset use an electribe EA-1 and an elecribe ES-1, even though I have piles of gear lying around.

I use a Behringer mixer for said live set.

I don't have a set list I just have a list of the pattern numbers and according song names and I just play whatever song from the list that I feel like. I forgot this list before a show once and I would start songs like right in the middle of them and stuff. It was bad but nobody noticed.

I sound like I'm about to cry every time I talk into the mic because I'm always out of breath when I perform and I'm just a really awkward person in general.

I told my wife the kavinksy Drive theme song was me

I traded a re-201 for a 5150 cab (1999)

I've been so drunk at shows i wouldn't even turn my amp on, no one was the wiser.

I'm having a hard time figuring out which one of those you are most ashamed of.

My confession:

1) ABBA were great synth players and programmers, and I find inspiration in their records for sounds and tricks, albeit I am jazz player.

2) filter resonance works fine in emulations of acoustic instruments

3) shakuachi samples are hugely useful in programming all kind of patches for any kind of music. I can't stand them in soundtracks though.

As a Kraftwerk fan:

1. I hate The Model.
2. Except for Pocket Calculator & More Fun to Compute, Computer World is boring.
3. The Minimum/Maximum version of TEE kicks the original's butt.

As a GS member:

1. I can't stand most electronic music made after 1980.
2. Drums have, for the most part, no place in electronic music.
3. My set up consists of budget VAs, romplers & guitar pedals running through a Behringer Xenyx 1002 mixer. The only thing I want to replace is the mixer.
4. I passed on a DX7 in favour of buying a MiniAK.

Not so much blasphemous as dumb, but I do less work when I'm alone at home than when my wife & daughter are there.

That felt good...

I didn't get along with the sound of the TB-303 or TR-808 until very recently. Even worse when you combine this with the next one:

Though I plan on using Roland as my stage last name (and probably changing my real one to that), I might not be a Roland purist after all.

I prefer analog imitations of acoustic instruments over the actual acoustic instruments. My dream instrument is one that has the articulations of the acoustic instruments, but the analog sound and not the acoustic sound.

I don't get the appeal of modular. We went all the way back to the 1970s? I'm waiting for the 2020s so we can get back to the 1980s in synthesizer technology.

I wish I could change my username to "Boob Moog", just because it looks cool. My current username is more rock-oriented (my favorite album) than electronic-oriented.

With artist names like James Dean Brown or Duran Duran Duran, I thought there sure must be a DJ Boob Moog somewhere. But all I find on Google are misspellings of Bob Moog.

Well then, I officially claim it.

Ironically, I will probably never use a Moog.

You could also do what Com Truise did and call yourself Mob Boog, or if you're on the hefty side, Moob Boog.

I like 2 Unlimited.

The first single I brought was Whigfield - Saturday Night, and I still like the song.

Mob Boog would be better as Booger Mob, vaguely reminiscent of the Dream Police.

Boob Moog would be a project name. (First name here) Roland would be the name of the person making the stuff. By the way, any already somewhat well-known Rolands in music besides the company?

1. I got into electronic music (hip-hop excluded) because of [American] dubstep, Deadmau5, and Daft Punk. Seriously (I have since backed off on the dubstep a bit, but still like the other stuff).

2. I've been listening to all of the music posted in this forum for months now, including many of the "best [insert genre] music/albums" threads, and I find I can't get into just about any of it. And I still like the music mentioned in #1.

3. I'm originally (and still am) a guitarist....a classic-rock-and-blues-boutique-tube-amp-and-analog-purist guitarist.

4. My first synth was Plogue Chipsounds because I'm a gamer who missed out on the 8 and 16-bit eras and have a faux-nostalgia for it (mostly the old JRPGs).

Going into hiding now...

I love how cathartic this thread has been for people!

To add to the spirit of things... I don't think the Moog Model D is really ALL that, in fact, I'm only keeping it because I "should."

(That said, I LOVE the Memorymoog! ... Go figure)

I have yet to sample anything on my EX-5r even though I have paid over $300 for the SCSI, upgraded sample memory and flash memory, it's been almost 5 years.

I HATE softsynths and think anyone who uses them is a big lazy cheap wuss although I do have one of my songs done entirely in REASON.

When no one is home, I set up a compressor, eq, set my mixer as loud as possible, sequence a continuous 909 sample & hi-hat and rattle the house for an hour while I veg on the couch, mostly to annoy the snobby neighbors.

I love Shania Twain's latest album and I like Billy Ocean songs.

I love Star Trek and have been watching my DVDs instead of being in the studio. But somehow, in my mind, they are connected.

I use and love Antaris Autotune and think it is the greatest thing EVER.
Okay it's been almost four years, let's see how much things have changed:

When I go into a music store I no longer go for the slap bass sounds, now I just make a continuous wobble sound and pretend I like and listen to dub-step.

Instead of going for pogramming something on my MS2000 or Prophet 600, I will pull up ReFx Nexus because it's ITB and I don't have to get up.

I still have yet to sample anything on my EX-5r even though I paid a lot for the SCSI rare upgrade. Ableton now syncs my loops perfectly with little to no effort.

I now LOVE softsynths and still think anyone who uses them is a big lazy cheap wuss. All my songs are now ITB.

I now produce at low volume in the hopes that no one find's out how much cool gear I have that I don't even use since I'm completely ITB.

I don't like Shania Twian or Billy Ocean any longer and now listen to exclusively Skrillex.

I still love Star Trek. I just bought season one of Star Trek: The Next Generation on BluRay to watch instead of being in the studio. Somehow, in my mind, Star Trek and my Synths are still connected.

I still use and love Antaris Autotune and still think it is the greatest thing EVER. Some things never change!

Mog is too closely related with the Moogles from Final Fantasy. Need to keep it Moog so to associate it with synthesizers instead of little creatures.

That one's a bit too good - fearing it's already taken. (Also, too close to 808 State?)

Not that I don't want to admit to them, but things worth getting off my chest:

~ The recording quality/mix/"sound" of a song is WAY less important to me than the song itself, the groove, or simply the soulfulness that shines through... I'll listen to low-fi, rugged john frusciante recordings over deadmau5 any f*ckin day.

~ Don't like aphex twin ; drum n' bass ; house or any four on the floor type techno for the most part (unless its very pleasing melodically)

~ Love Midnight Star, Shalimar, Zapp, and much other "cheese" electro-funk

~ Don't like plug-ins

~ Don't like VSTs, thus spend lots of my income on often less-than-stable analog gear

~ Don't like ProTools (though for the music I record at work it's somewhat practical)

~ Don't have a single outboard compressor of my own. Want one.

~ Don't dig Skrillex

~ Find the majority of dubstep (even earlier, "legit", british stuff) to be corny, contrived and sounding like the people who created it lack a sense of true funk

~ constantly irritated by hearing dubstep/rave kids talk about "bass" like theyre cool for knowing big bass can drive a track and make you dance

Confessions confessions...

- I don“t like melodical music and think the sound design part of making music is much more satisfying than creating melodies, unless it's classical music

- i often find myself liking the science behind songs more than the content itself

- I barely ever pay attention to what anybody else is doing in my music scene

- As time has passed my playlist has changed almost completely to classical compositions...

- I always wonder, how can people bare "that" kind of music??

- The more experimental music gets the more i feel like i want to like it. I think the most experimental compositions by Frank Zappa are great.

One day last year found myself singing along to Wham on the radio at work. Half way through I remembered... I f#%ing hate Wham! I promptly bitchslapped myself repeatedly until I returned to my ice cold techno pimp persona. That is all...

Hmm, tough one, but I did put an EQ on every insert slot within Cubase, cutting stuff crazy like 20+ db, then boosting the output to compensate, and repeat a dozen times PER CHANNEL.

Simply to see what it would sound like.

You could only imagine.

I think it was the Q10 too, freaking brutal.
You will never hear a mix sound so bizarre, uncomfortable and fatiguing in your entire life.

Sad thing is, I spent the entire Thanksgiving weekend with my 'experiment'.
Some how if I 'got to the bottom of the audio' I would find the 'secret' to good sound.

Ok here it goes

- i hate the fact that many "producers" use samples of other tracks and let the people think they made the track all by themselves. it's stealing and stupid and not creative. every record that uses samples of other records should mention it at beatport/on the vinyl in a clearly visible way. there i said it

- atm i prefer to play bad company 2 online instead of making music

- i hate most "trendy, drug-taking hipster people" of the deep house/techno scene, but i love the music.

- i think 90% of Electronic Music sucks and is boring

- i'm scared by the producing skill some 14 year old boys and girls have today :D

- i love cheesy 80's fusion, jazz, rock or hair metal or 80's disco, i think the 80's were the best years in the history of music. hell...i even love the clothing
