Thread Starter | Moog MF-101 Lowpass Filter vs Model D, Phatty, Voyager Filter in.
I am looking at the Moog MF-101 Lowpass Filter. I am wondering if any slutz out there who have used that and the filter on the Original MiniMoog Model D, The Phatty or the Voyager can let me know who it stacks up to the filter input on any of those. I used to have the Model D in my possesion and loved the filter in. That is what I am familiar with. I am considering getting this for filtering drums, basses & leads, but I am wondering if I should wait and get a Phatty or really wait & grab a Voyager. I was planning to do that next year anyway. I don't think I will get a Model D unless I run across one at a yard sale for real cheap. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks. |

I have both but have never compared them side by side. Definitely in the same ball park. If anything I might prefer the fooger but then my Model D is old and cranky...

Can anyone jump in here? I'm thinking about complementing my slim phatty with the mf101 to do some stereo filtering, but if the sound different i dont think it would be a good idea.

| The SP only kicks out a mono signal unlike the voyager so you might need something to double the signal before you can stereo filter it

I have the mf-101, a little phatty and voyager OS. I didn't do any direct or scientific comparisons but I can offer some thoughts based on my experience. The MF-101 is very close to the voyager's LPF IMO. The little phatty filter sounds a bit different to my ears, not sure how, sounds a little bit colder and thinner (it sounds warm and fat, just a bit less so than the fooger and voyager). The difference is not dramatic though. If all you want is a moog filter get the mf-101, you won't be disappointed. The voyager would be overkill if you just want the filter, but it does have a dual filter with optional HPF mode, so whether that alone is worth 2k$ is up to you. My 0.02$. YMMV.

The Mooger LPF sounds a lot like the Voyager's.
