Microkorg XL has a 16 band vocoder ...

Post Full Review

Wanted to add that Future Music UK has a full review of the KXL in the Feb Issue. Paper issue only as far as I know...
(You can sometimes find it in the US at Barns and Noble or Borders)

Seems like it is basically a Radias with a few PCMs thrown in.

I actually played one today. It looks and feels cheaper than the micro korg, and in many ways feels like a 'dumbed down' version. I kind of like the editing matrix on the micro korg, the XL just a a few woobly knobs and less choice unless you dig into the menus, and then it's a nightmare! I didn't really like it...which is a shame because I really wanted to.

Ive owned the XL for sometime now , if your buying it for a synth then don't bother however if your buying it for a vocoder like me then its Great .

I made This Track with the XL's Vocoder.

I never followed the MS/MK too much, but it looks like they're staying true to how they've been doing things - make multiple incarnations. But who doesn't. Would've liked to see something a little more enhanced.

yeah, the "program genre" knob is about the lamest thing I could imagine on a synth. I mean its funny on a casio where you have the "different" beats for rock, disco, waltz, etc, that all sound strangely identical, but if korg is trying to make something that has some appeal beyond a toy, this is just stupid. But I think we already know that this is just a toy, so for a toy, I guess a "program genre" knob is somehow a desirable feature?
