Symphonic Orchestra

I'm running Symphonic Orchestra Silver Edition in Protools HD 7.4 on Power PC Tiger 10.4.11. And its not playing back any midi files. Anyone have any idea what I can look at to fix this problem?

Need a bit more info.

Are these MIDI files that you've created and that worked before ?

Does the MIDI data show up but QLSO not play ?

Have you assigned the correct MIDI channel info to the relevent tracks

Is the 'PLAY' version of the QLSO or the previous Konpakt version ?

The Midi files are working. If use a different plug in it works fine.
Midi data is there and routed to the right inputs of EWQLSO. But nothing is playing.
And it is Konpakt.
Thanks.

Are you able to manually play the orchestral sounds with the keyboard ?

It may be that the midi tracks are playing out of the range of the instruments you've set up in QLSO - rembering that eg the violins won't make any sound below G3.

I get no sound if I use the Keyboard, and I did make sure that the software is looking at the right directory for the library.

Any Ideas?
Thanks.

I can't remember if the Kompakt player displays a piano keyboard in the graphics or not ? - if it does then the highlighted keys are the ones with the samples on them so if you use the mouse and click on one of the highlighted keys it should trigger the sound to play - at least this will establish whether the sounds are actually working in the software to begin with.

There should be a little circle icon on the top left of the Kompakt player ( I think ! ) which should indicate if the program is receiving the incoming MIDI - it should flash

Oh - and check the 'Setup' tab in the Kompakt player as that will have the MIDI options and should list all of your hardware - might be worth checking that the right items are ticked !

If I run the program on its own it works, but only trough the G5's little built in speaker. But if I run it as a RTAS in Protools it does nothing. That little light doesn't even go on. But I do think you are right with it not seeing the right hardware.

Where would I find that SETUP tab. Can't see it on EWQLSO anywhere. If you could direct me to where I might find it I think we can get this working.

Thanks alot.

I've not used it with Protools but from what you're saying it sounds like you need to select your audio interface for QLSOs output for a start and do this in the stand alone mode using the set up option - It should list you audio interface in the the audio output section.

Are you able to use the mouse in RTAS mode to select notes on the keyboard as I mentioned before ?

In the stand alone I only have one option which is the Core card. And in Pro Tools I can use the mouse to hit keys but no sound comes through.

Sounds like you need to go back to the Soundsonline forum and get help directly from East West.

Goodluck !
