So maybe I wanna go back to school to learn some audio stuff.. is that a good idea. Where? I would be most interested in learning about sound engineering, mixing, mastering.. ya know all the stuff you need to know to be a good producer. I have been trying to teach myself but I am only getting so far.. I basically want to go to the school that teaches you how to make bad ass techno tunes.... is thier such a thing? |

Tour every school you want to apply to. Try to meet with students to get the real deal with the school. There are lots of good schools out there, just do your research and see the schools in person. Take it from someone who does teach a few classes and talk to the students and the instructors. The admission people will try a lot of stuff to get you in. I really hate seeing students get lied to and loose their money. I would look at Berkley MTSU I went to MTSU myself and the program was pretty good. Lots of hoops to jump through to get into the actual audio program. I have a few friends that went to berkley and they seem to know their stuff.

I think even after school training everyone that wants to do this professionally enters the school of hard knocks. I have experienced a lot of good times and a few bad times. If you are at a point where you are struggling to teach yourself then school may be a good direction for you. Get the copy of the mix magazine with list of schools.

Network with your local scene and maybe talk to some DJs who also produce. Spending money on school when you can learn on your own is a bad investment in my mind especially when you will more than likely not make your investment back in the field and you could be spending that money on gear instead |
