Help with Pop/House Track ?

Hey fellow slutz,
I am in need of some assistance here; I am currently living in Freiburg, Germany as a student and a poor student at that. I created this track in Ableton Live with my yamaha go46 firewire interface and a pair of sony mdr-v700 dj headphones. Samples from a Polyfusion modular i took during my Hampshire college days and other sources. Vocals from motown. Basically i need feedback on levels; it's tough to tell how the bass hits with the headphones. I've listened on some other systems and i'm still not really reassured. So, if you have the good will do let me know what i might try fix here. Also, if you like the track I am looking for someone to work with on mixing and arranging. - Joseph

Bassline is too loud, also the track could do with some kind of fill/filter sweep/ other effect just before the bass comes in, ready the ear.

Some of those synths sound a bit thin: Try a bit of tape sim or some other kind of saturation on them (and the bass sound.

Nice kick.

hey thanks for the feedback, it's exactly what i was looking for!
I put a hi pass on all of the synths, do you think this could account for some of the thinness? Just cut off the low frequencies that might interfere with the bass. I will take your suggestions into account when I do the next round of edits.

what filin said. bass is too loud, even distorting at points, though that might just be the mp3. Synths are a bit thin but don't bother me so much, maybe lower the hp in one or two of them not all of them. I think the electric piano is a bit too loud also, might want to bring it down after the intro. good luck.
