Synth cleaning and dust covers

Hi, I have some obnoxious air conditioning that spits out a lot of dust and as a result, my gear tends to pick up a lot dust. I was wondering if anyone has any recommended general surface cleaning materials/techniques along with some dust covers. I was imagining some sort of soft cover that could sit over cables without putting much pressure on them. Thanks.

Texas, IMO, has a lot of dust. Too many dirt devils in all this open space, my horses nearly went crazy the other day.

For cleaning I generally use a clean feather duster, the kind that do not have any chemicals in them like some new products have. You must be very careful when cleaning your synths as I broke a knob off my beloved Prophet 600 while dusting one day. (It was probably already broken and just barely hanging on anyhow)

For cleaning, I use a soft damp wet cloth, no chemicals.

While I would love to research some expensive company that makes nice dust covers and post a link, I generally use some nice black towels I purchased at my local Target to cover my gear. They are lint free and I can also throw them in the wash them whenever needed without having to worry about dusting them off or ruining them, like I would a plastic synth cover.

My wife has asthma, so we tend to use different, stronger filters with our a/c unit. Although they cost six times more than a regular/general filter, it has also helped keep the dust in my home under control.

there was a sale at costco for these towel mits used to clean a car... very soft on one side and a bit tougher on the other. i dry wipe all my gear once a week with it, throw them in the wash and repeat

my synths love me. that is all.

One thing I used to like for brushing off dust was one of those big hardware shop style paintbrushes (dry and unused of course). They are handy for gently getting into crevices and sweeping gunk out. But keeping synths in a case is probably a better solution for long term.

Thanks for that paint brush suggestion!!!! What a great idea.

I live in Brooklyn surrounded by construction. Keeping my gear clean is a everyday battle.

down side of that idea is that the dust is still there! it's just in the air as soon as you brush it off. stuff like swiffer makes the dust stick to it ... way better solution imho.
