Yeah, I just ran across this on the BBC website.
Great sounds.
The dance track is quite amazing (for late 60's).

The Dance track reminded me of a Throbbing Gristle track from back in the day. Imagine if electronic dance music got its start in the 60's instead of the 80s?! 70's Trance and 80's DnB made with fairlight samplers! lol.

Now that would be something to hear, someone making modern style music on an old fairlight and other oldies.

Great news that they found this stuff.
Another one to checkout is John Baker. He made some incredible music for the Radiophonic workshop...

Massive Radiophonic Workshop fan here.

If anyone wants to hear classic Delia or Baker, the infamous 'pink album' (called BBC Radiophonic Music) is worth tracking down, either on the original vinyl release, or the CD which was reissued by the BBC a few years ago. Rephlex also reissued it on vinyl, packaged along with the follow-up 1975 album... it was a set of 10" vinyls and very very nicely done.

Also, Trunk recrords just released two CDs, full of unheard John Baker radiophonics. Really wonderful music and very unique. I love the idea of music from someone who's both steeped in electronics and jazz. Everyone loves Delia's work (and quite rightly so), but John Baker is equally worth checking out.

Big thanks, Reptil. Something about her and her work is just endlessly fascinating and inspiring, even moreso when hearing her talk about it.

John BAKER - John Baker Tapes Volume 1: Rare & Unreleased Recordings
and
John BAKER - The John Baker Tapes Volume 2: Rare & Unreleased Recordings 1954-1985

Enough John Baker for anyone.

I was really excited about the doc you posted above when it was on TV, but it was quite silly and I found the clocks and the man pulling faces realy annoying. What was the point of that?

cheers

Thanks!
I guess.. The clocks and the bearded man were a kind of humoristic tone, because, IMO their music has had a kind of light tone to it. (contrary to Stockhausen for example) Genius with a wink. Or something like that.
It didn't annoy me, I think a little bit of weirdness is ok, but to each his own. thumbsup
