Prodigy-style vst Synths

Hello !

Please, could anyone recommend me some vst synths that have really raw , "the prodigy"-style sounds ? Yes, I know what kind of hardware gear Liam Howlett used - check this link, also - TheProdigy.info ยป equipment , but i would like to know if there are some software emulations or vsti synths that have those kind of sounds.
Thank you so much in advance !

Have you tried Native Instruments Massive???
That is a great virtual synth for that type sound.
You can program the hell out of it and it has a real raw sound.

If you have Reason, I get some wicked Prodigy like sounds from the Subtractor wired into a Scream.

Start from scratch (no presets, they all SUCK SUCK SUCK), Prodigy synth sounds are pretty straightforward at the synthesis level with a lot of grit later which in this case comes from the Scream.

...and don't forget that there's a hell lot of processing involved. Synths don't sound this way without FX-treatment. You can almost use anything as long as you put guitar pedals after it, reamp and resample it. Just **** around with the sound until you get something going.

I understand that the tracks were initially written in Reason, then recorded with his hardware synths. All the sounds on the album itself are from his usual hardware. Or so he said in an interview.

the key to the prodigy sound is the thermionic culture vulture... everything else they use is pretty vanilla.

Some nice freebies for that kinda sound:

Ugo ReZ - Download Rez by Ugo

KorePlayer (freeware from Native Instruments)... can be loaded with Massive sounds or FM8 sounds.... sounds cost about 60 dollars per pack of about 200 (x 8 variations) sounds. The player comes free with some sounds. NATIVE INSTRUMENTS : Home

Thanks for replying :)

Great advices, thanks to all of you.

I am willing to buy Arturia's Prophet V and Jupiter 8V, they might be also great synths for such a duty.

Ugo rez- beautiful , Massive - superb, culture vulture - on my wishlist for 2009-2010 :P

After some hours of research, I've found an interesting link with emulations of vintage synthesizers :
STUDIO COMPYFOX - RESEARCH: List of Software equivalents, remakes and rebuilts of Hardware instruments

If anyone tried the suggested emulations, please, share opinions !
How about reaktor ? I've heard a interesting 303 sound here , but I am new in synthesizers programming, and I am not sure if I am able to recreate such ensembles:
YouTube - 303-clone made with REAKTOR - DA FUNK

Waiting for further advices .

Thank you all for making my day !
