MIDI DUMP... help please!!

I am new to this hardware synth world and after making my first couple of purchases need to dump some stuff into my Pulse and Blofeld... I have Logic as my sequencer and wanted to figure out how to dump without messing stuff up.

I have a .mid file, do I drop this into a logic midi track or into an audio one? There are xxxxx's in the audio one and just one midi note on the midi channel. There are instructions on how to set up the hardware to receive, which should be ok, but how do I set everything up properly in logic? Should I get a ''sysex''program specifically for doing this? Do I just play at any BMP or should it be very slow?

Your help would be very appreciated.

Thanks thumbsup

Drop in the .mid file on a midi track, set the BMP to something slow, like 70, set the channel to send to the device in question, and press play and wait for it to finish. Very very easy. You might be able to do a faster BPM, but it always depends on the device.

For .syx files, you need something that handles sysex files. I'm not sure if Logic does or not, but for example, Cubase does not. A seperate program could be easier, like MIDI Ox, but not sure if it's for the Mac or not...?

Thanks.

It's a .MID file and when I drop into a midi instrument the region is blank apart from a small C3 at the end - is that right?

For everyone else puzzled with this like I was, grab the midi file and drop it on your stage. Logic will automatically create 2 midi tracks, one with a single note back at the end, another full of xxxx's. Now to get the output right!
Right click on the track name, reassign track object, others, select midi all. Do this for both the tracks and then press play from the beginning.

This worked for me for the firmware update, but updating the sounds didn't work for me! Although I think I have the most recent version anyways ...

Hope this helps!
