Need Native Instruments Help!!!!

Guys,

I am running Cubase 4 on OSX 10.4.11 with Reaktor 5 and Absynth 4. Am I crazy or are they both NOT plug in delay compensated?!?!? PLease give me some insight, clarity, etc. I ran some drums through one of Reaktor's compressors, duplicated the track and removed the reaktor plugin to sneak in the dry signal and I got phasing. The same happens when i run guitars through Absynth's filters and try to include a dry track. This sucks. Am I overlooking something, doing something wrong? Please help.

Thanks

Carl

check your latency settings...It should not be higher than 15 ms. Personally, I never used more than 10.

You can turn of delay compensation can you not ? Check that it is on. And i believe you can have it turned off for plugins with higher than x ms latency (where x is user adjustable). Look in the manual about delay compensation, that's the best tip i can give for the moment.

Could be the NI plugins does'nt report their latency to Cubase but that sounds highly unlikely.

Thanks guys!

Yeah, I'm currently checking to see if PDC is disabled. I used to be on Nuendo and I remember it being easier to find.

Also, to quote jupiter 8, "And i believe you can have it turned off for plugins with higher than x ms latency (where x is user adjustable)." This is very interesting, I was unaware of this. I'll check on this as well.

To divine chemical; If it's digital there's latency, hardware or software. There's plenty of good digital both hardware and software. Native Instruments is one of the few companies that is making software with no analog equvalents. Analog vs. didgital, hardware vs. software is a dull, tired debate.

I put in an e-mail to native instruments as well, waiting on their response.

Don't mind DC, he has a lot of opinions.

I was going to suggest you contact NI as well simply because they are the best at the technical aspects of their software. It takes a little while but they usually respond with something useful.

no worries!

i actually kinda wish that NI would come out with a hardware version of Reaktor ala Kyma. but that's neither here nor there.

I got a response and am e-mailing my session to NI.

I tried toggling the constrain delay comp on and off. There is a change in tone but it still phases.

For more info, I have a stereo drum loop on a track. The track has been duplicated and reaktor's FlatBlaster is placed on the track. I've got my wet and dry. And they phase!!!!! They shouldn't.

I've been interested in abusing some of the more traditional processing and fx in the NI catalog to find out if any of it has a unique sound of it's own. Like, for instance, "Gee I love the sound of FlatBlaster and a Neve 1081 on that snare!" I'll share any cool findings.

P.S. My old boss just bought Glen Ballard's euphonix console!!!!! the one Alanis Morisette's Jagged Little Pill was done on!!! LOL!!!

It would have to be delivered by an aircraft carrier.
