I'll let you know. I haven't hooked it up yet, cause I've got a new computer coming tonight, so I'm not bothering installing stuff on my current one right now, but, my preliminary impression is that the knobs feel a touch flimsy, but not bad considering the price. It's also possible that what I'm interpreting as flimsyness is due to the knobs being "touch sensitive," whatever that means. I'll let you know how it works with logic as soon as I get everything set up on my new computer.

@Geert: Are the protools MIDI numbers the kind of thing that would be in the manual? If so, I can take a look, but otherwise I can't do much cause I don't have protools.

I have 2 devices that control VSTs.

1) NI KORE 1 . A very nice idea, the first to utilise the KORE BROWSER which appeared in FM8 and BSYNTH4 and all recent NI synths. Similar to Nocturn with a big LCD screen and a excellent software. I do not use it anymore because the DEVICE CENTER gave me problems with authorisation. And it did crash some non NI synths like TERA3.

2) BCR2000 I bought this but nor for VSTs , only for my WALDORF BLOFELD. I am not trying midi controllers for VSTs, the midi support of VSTs is pathetic , giving you limited amount of control. With WALDORF BLOFEDL is different story 120 parameters can be controlled by midi.

I have to disagree that BCR is difficult to Setup. I am having the exactly opposite experience. IT is extremely easy . I have managed to setup 32 parameters and I can map alot more (using multipage knobs , and/or the 52 available presets).

There is no visual feedback on BCR. But I prefer working blindly cause looking down hurt my neck and it is not a very health body position. So I make sure I map parameters orderly . First row of 8 Knobs is for Osc1 , Second Row is for OSC2 etc.

I am already using BCR with Blofeld for making sounds and it is a breeze.

i disagree. automap is so fast. i had a track up last night and was tweaking filters and compressors on multiple channels. one screen was setup with each channels plugin...about 16 of them in order.

all i had to do was click on the window of the channel i wanted and adjust the knob. no mid channels no controller numbers. i like to spend my time in the studio being creative, not programming midi controllers...im just not that kinda guy i spose :P

Actually you are wright , I meant there is not serious feedback. No big screen . But of course the leds around the knobs and the led screen do help accordingly.

Aaaaah, Nocturn!

Well, as the PT user knows by now, updates to the automap software have added support for RTAS / Windows.

I gave up on my local distributor and ordered from Sweetwater, and it arrived very fast. Won't be the last time I use those guys. what can I say? I am completely blown away by this thing.

And please, let's not quibble about how great the BCR is. To each their own. But for me, having a device that maps as soon as you plug it in and get it to scan your plugins folder - that is priceless, and I paid less than I did for my BCR, now winging its way to an eBay buyer in Lithuania (this is not a joke).

That being said, you might not agree with some of the default mappings the software chooses for some of the controllers in a given plugin, but that's easily remedied in seconds with the learn function. I dunno - can't think what objection there might be to this thing. The whole purpose it seems to me of any device in the digital realm is workflow improvement, or what's the point? My two bits.
