Thread Starter | Logic 8 Ultrabeat help - bug I'm running the 8.01 update version of Logic 8. My ultrabeat drum kits are having problems with being saved, the drag and drop functions in the kit are also not working. If I use the drag and drop function of the drum samples while its working the drums turn into a random latin conga set. I spent like an hour or two yesterday making a custom kit, and saved it, non of the samples are there, and the "bug" seems to be effecting other kits I've made. I repaired permissions, just curious if there was any others here using this with this problem or had any info out there to fix this?

| I just experienced this same thing. I loaded the big beat remix kit, then every time I open that song, it searches for a particular sample which it can't find. I tried saving the kit under a new name, and searching for the file manually to no avail.

Thread Starter | Yeah, looks like I might have to do some reinstalls with the samples and see what happens. |

| Yeah I get all kinds of crap with UB as well...especially using "revert to saved" which loads all kinds of different kits(definetely not the saved ones!) ![]() |

Thread Starter | This is just an observation, but last night I went to some older tracks in Logic 8 I had made. They were from a previous template I had made. I use the Save as Template usually as I go creating better workflow etc. Anyway the newer template tracks have the UB issues, but the older ones did not? Strange. Anyway, thanks for the comments. |

| I posted this same bug on logicprohelp.com about a month or so ago. Several folks responded that they have seen variations on the same problem. I never found a workaround, and I lost enough work from the bug that I've decided to walk away from Ultrabeat until the next Logic update. -synthoid |

| So, is it using a sample from the the Jam packs or Audio Cds that come with Logic? Because maybe you guys haven't loaded everything in, so when it searches for it, it doesn't find it. Or are these samples found the first time and then just don't show up after being saved?

Thread Starter | I've loaded all the samples. There are numerous problems with ultrabeat that I encounter. The 8.01 update suppossedly addressed some of the issues with sample managment or file issues. This is seperate though. Since I have deleted my old template and used one that was working correctly I haven't had the same problems with the drag and drop functions in the UB. |

| So with the new templates, the drag and drop works fine? Are you still having problems with UB not being able to find samples and loosing sample drum sets you've saved? And did you load all the samples onto 1 internal hard drive or a seperate external hd? |

| i posted this on the logicprohelp forum, but hopefully someone will find this useful here as well. i had this problem last weekend on my early 2008 mac pro running 10.5.2, and it was driving me nuts. ![]() in fact, it was pissing me off so much that i bought a copy of battery 3 to use instead of ultrabeat. it's unbelievable that such a glaring bug would crop up, so i'm hoping this bug is more of an problem with the changes in leopard than logic. i finally got ultrabeat to correctly load up samples by first running the OnyX utility to fix permissions on my startup drive. not sure if that was necessary, but i wasn't leaving anything to chance. and then when i was building up my own kits using David's Sample Playback Sampler (see Logic Pro Help :: Log in), i intentionally skipped (i.e., left empty) the c1 key where the kick drum is usually placed and shifted my kit a semitone up. i saved the ultrabeat setting and now everything loads up correctly. the c1 key is still messed up and loads some random taiko kick drum (lol) each time i open the project, but at least i'm not pulling out my hair anymore trying to have logic load up the samples in my saved kit. hope this works for someone else too, but for now this seems to be my work around until it gets addressed by apple. ![]() |

Thread Starter | So far the drag and drop is working fine, but I would say that the Ultrabeat still isn't 100%. Its working for the most part, but making kits and saving them is always a finger crossing for me. I'm not sure what the deal is with it. All the sample etc are on one harddrive currently, I am running a Macpro Quad 2.66. I'm making music, but working around the Ultrabeat a bit. I end up using the main sequencer to do some drum programming really. |

| I've had exactly the same problem you guys described and found a workaround by putting the samples in the same folder as the setting of the kit (Library > Application Support > Logic > Plug-In Settings > Ultrabeat). Not exactly the smoothest solution but it does work. |

| Sorry for the ressurection! However, I have a similar problem in Ultrabet in Logic 9 where it will ever so often ask me to find samples located on an external drive. It will import samples fine, and most of the time open the project without asking me to search. Then one third of the times or so it will ask me to manually load each sample. Gah! Does anyone recognize the problem? Is there a fix? Thanks in advance for any help! Cheers, Dan |

Hi Dan Yes - I've having issues with Ultrabeat in Logic 9 too. I'm posting about them in various forums but there isn't a lot of response, either because the issues are only affecting a few users, or because Ultrabeat just isn't used very much. The issues I have relating to Ultrabeat and custom kits / samples in Logic 9: - "Preview sample in Ultrabeat voice" is broken - About 1/3 of my custom Ultrabeat kits load with blank sample bays. They load fine in Logic 8. I can find no obvious difference between the kits that load correctly and those that don't - they all refer to samples stored on the same dedicated drive. - Opening a backup version of a song (.00, .01 version) presents the behaviour you describe. Logic asks me to manually find each sample in each Ultrabeat kit, even when the samples have been saved as assets in the project folder. If you haven't already, please report your issues directly to Apple too because it's something that needs to be looked into. There appears to have been some change in the way Logic keeps track of samples between Logic 8 and 9: Apple - Logic Pro - Feedback | |
