Analogue step sequencer for Moog Voyager...?

Doepfer MQ16/3, MAM Step64..?

I'd ideally like to route the Matrix Pattern Sequencer in Reason to output to it Via ProTools IN REALTIME, but I can't get my head round that approach. I'm not even sure if it's possible (even with a third party midi loopback application).

How about something in Reaktor..? Can that spit MIDI sequences in realtime to hardware?

What about a Future Retro Mobius? I keep going round in circles as I want
another step sequencer, myself.

I wish Moog would make a step sequencer the same format as a Phatty, ie sloping
panel, big and small knobs, lots of switches, MIDI, CV/Gate and trigger control.

Like Korg did with their SQ-10..?

Would be nice alright, probably the wrong CV voltage spec though eh?

I was thinking of getting the same effect but with software, preferably software I already own e! I have a serious lack of space for any more hardware. That said... the MAB Step64 is quite small isn't it..?

I just like the possibility of perhaps using the random genrerated sequences that the Matrix Pattern Sequencer gives you.

I'm thinking maybe going back to explore Reaktor again, would be nice to know if it could spit of MIDI to hardware though...

I'll try it later on when I get home.

i would have recommended Sequentix Music Systems - home of the P3 Analogue Sequencer but the next model is not yet available and the old one not anymore.
i hope it won t take too long because i could really use one of these...

If you want a Moog style step sequencer, Dotcom makes a Moog 960 clone, along with the related modules. You'll need to put them in a case. info here:

Synthesizers.com* ---* Q960 Sequential Controller
Synthesizers.com* ---* Q961 Sequencer Interface
Synthesizers.com* ---* Q962 Sequential Switch
Synthesizers.com* ---* Q963 Trigger Bus

Here they are in a system (top cabinet):

Synthesizers.com* ---* Studio-88 Synthesizer System

I'm a lucky owner of a SND SAM-16 sequencer, I have never worked with a better analog sequencer...but you have to decide quick, there are only some pieces left and Sebastian Nissen will quit the production soon...

How about a GenoQ's Octopus? Complicated at first sight, but I'm quite convinced it's extremely versatile oonce you get the hang of it.

Does OP mean analog step sequencer as in non-midi?

Grooveboxes work pretty well.

The Korg MS2000 I have has found a nice partnership with the Voyager via MIDI. 3 Track x 16 step sequencer on board. You can send MIDI and two lanes of #CC's.

I'd be interested in getting an analog sequencer too but I am not sure that the Voyager is precisely 1V/oct. I have read some place (possibly the moogmusic forum) that it's something like 0.935V/oct. Don't know whether they have fixed this - just something to keep in mind.

Woahhh! Why didn't I think of that?

Love the step sequencer on the MS2000! You can modulate/sequence anything and get some truely wonderful sounds on the MS that all sync to MIDI. I love step sequencing the panning.

Dubreak, how are you setting that up to send the CC's? Are you using a computer or does the Voyager/MS have to be set up a certain way?

Not analog, but I often use the Monomachine to sequence my Voyager. Parameter locks and the appegiator are beautiful.

You can do it if you have max/msp

If you're on a Mac, check out numerology. If its hardware you're after, the future retro orb or revolution paired with the cp251 works quite well.

I love analog type step sequencers. What to buy depends on your budget. Here are some few examples (yes, I know there are many more options out there) that I would consider if I was looking for an analog style step sequencer:

- Numerelogy from five12.com is a fantastic software step sequencer that works together with DAWs (I use that one with my Voyager and Logic)

- Step64 is a small hardware light budget step sequencer

- Maq 16/3 is The Sequencer and still not too expensive, even if it's some hundreds of dollars. They have a special one with blue lights that also looks fantastic together with the blue light from the Voyager.
