| Lives for gear | Just listened to a few of the official remixes and they sound incredible- the production and engineering on these are world class. The mixes are huge! I was wondering if anybody knew what type of equipment the big pop remixers like Jody Den Broeder, Moto Blanco, Freemasons use- I was quite jealous of some of the synth sounds they have. I assume its a lot of software stuff like the refx products as well as the virus and maybe some vintage synthesizers, but if anyone can shed some light that would be great! I own the refx stuff and am considering investing in a virus as the vanguard ect. just doesnt cut it for me. Also, if anyone knows where to get great dance drum samples I would much appreciate it. I just got Sonniccoutures samples which are great quality and have a lot of great kicks and percussion/fx, but they lack in dance claps and snaps. Any thoughts. I looked into the vengeance stuff but all their sounds seem dated and poor in quality. |

| Any thoughts: Vengeance Samples, IMO, are NOT dated or in poor quality, maybe their sound is not what you are looking for. Vengeance-sound is for hard 4 on the floor dance music, their individual sounds alone are some of the best processed samples I have used. Soniccouture sounds like it's more for abstract film-score sounding music, IMO, lacking in the depth & quality needed for producing remixes like the "Janet Jackson" song you mentioned. Your next best bet would be to buy some vintage drum machines and start processing them yourself with nice class-A pre's, compressors and EQ to get the sound you are looking for. Anything with the Janet Jackson name means you will always have your mixes done on a million dollar SSL or Neve console, working with the best producers and the having best mastering available booked a solid two years ahead of time. Ahh...label support. My apologies, but I am not familiar with the producers mentioned, I recommend doing a Google search on your fav producers or start researching what they do by meticulously reading articles in your favorite newsstand music magazines like Mix, EQ, Keyboard or Future Music.
