Looking for a Logic-based Mix Engineer for Dance Music

Basically, the production I'm doing is so closely bound with the mixing - by using side-chain compression, sub-mixes going to busses that are side-chained or otherwise compressed, etc - that I'd love to find an engineer who can mix from my Logic 8 Pro project and the associated files.

Ideally they would be able to work with my best effort levels/compression/reverbs/efx, but also have the ability to bypass, say an unhelpful compressor or EQ, and make there own decisions. Therefore, I could mix to the best of my ability, but nothing would be destructively applied. Does the make sense?

Has anyone worked in this manner? I'd love to hear your ideas and working methodologies.

I'm NYC based, though I would consider working through the internet with the right person.

Cheers!

I used to work this way 100%. Stuff can get freaky complicated but it can be worth it because you can get sounds not otherwise possible.

The downside comes in three months when you open the session and try to figure out the Rube Goldberg machine you just made.

The other problem is that sessions saved out like this dont have the integrity over the long haul as a traditional mix. One sample is missing, a vst is a different version, or there is a host/plugin conflict and it can seriously put you in the hole. So many more variables.

I'm moving more and more to a traditional layout on electronica tracks except on drum and FX channels. Those still get abused.

I would do the track for you but I dont have Logic :P

I guess I'm looking for two things, advice on how people deal with moving projects from the production phase to the mix phase (especially interested in people who don't bounce the stems down in this transition) and then, additionally, I'm potentially looking for an experienced mixing engineer who can work with Logic Pro project files.

diogo_c PM me, I'd be interested to hear what you've worked on.

Thanks.

I've been using Logic since version 1.6 and am in NY. I can mix your Logic 8 project on an automated analog console
