This would be sweet in my slant-top rack right above the XL-7....=)

How about a Prophet 01 desktop module similar to the MFB stuff with lots of knobs or a with a 3 octave keyboard? I already have a desktop Evolver. Does anyone think this idea would be redundant? Sound too similar already? Would the 100% analog signal path really sound that much better than an Evolver with it's high quality op amps?

I missed the price the first go around. Suggested retail is projected at $1649.

I never thought I'd see a new 8 voice analog hit the market for that price. Dave is indeed the man!

This seems just like what i need really, as i have far too many keyboard synths in my not so large room. A desktop Prophet 08...so many things to buy this year.

But i am guessing the UK price is going to be around a £1000 Plus

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!

If we had more products like this synths would be cheaper in general. **** all those vintage synths. They can go to some museum somwhere at the prices they fetch........I just want an affordable analog synth with poly and this looks just about right.

So does that mean I can expect the street price to be a lot less?

If this thing were 1200$ I would crap my pants. Makes the Little Phatty look like a little piece of shite.

Probably around $1450 is more realistic.

That is totally brillliant Jazz, thanks for the udate. Had another Voyager RME planned for this year, hmmmm...around the same price point too. Seems like the Voyager has gotten a bad wrap on GS lately, (thank you Divine Chemical), it's not the end all and be all of all synths, but I love mine to no end. (and the blue-lit pannel kicks ass!!!)

So how about it, do the sequencer and extra voices make up for solid competition?

Anyone know if the step sequencer on the P8 syncs to MIDI clock?

Hell yeah~! A rackmount Prophet '08 IS very cool indeed!

I'd also really love to have a REAL rackmount edition of the poly just like what they do to the Prophet '08, NOT the 1 u thingy avaible right now. But oh well...

I've always felt the Voyager was top of it's class. Gorgeous synth.

Though now there's the 'Old School' to drool over!

I'm guessing that's what the dedicated poly chain out jack on the keyboard version is for. It's easy to get the 08 stealing voices with the stacking and unison options. OTOH, it can clog up my whole mix with lushness using a mere 6 voices. 16 would be... wow.

I think Moog is slipping. They should have released the Little Phatty Rack by now with similar nice wood sides for around 750$ (Dunno maybe less or more?).

That would also sell like Charlie Brown.

re moog, I have to admit I'm not real excited about a non-midi anything...I guess that's just me. Plenty of pianos, violins and trumpets get sold, so maybe a gearslut isn't the target audience??

Nah, it's just a business decision based on sales volume of the keyboard version. No reason to rush the rack out until that keyboard cash cow's exhausted. A little surprised there's already a Prophet rack, it's early.

I haven't been that impressed with the new Prophet. It seems like the Prophets and the Evolvers (to me anyway) sound a little to clean, almost like they're trying to be more digital sounding. Then again, I read somewhere that it's impossible to mimic the old analog sounds because of today's parts. Personally, I'm more excited about the MiniMoog OS. Even if it does sound too clean (which I doubt it will) the lack of MIDI and patch storage just scream being a fun synth.

Yes, it sounds like 8 Voyagers is the poly of the future. It's only money, right?
