| My midisport 8x8 is frozen So I turn on my equipment the other day to notice all the lights on my midisport 8x8 all stay lit. None of the button work either. This has happened before a couple years ago and I called m-audio support to help and they had me do somthing like unplug the unit while holding a button down or somthing like that, I cant remember. I tryed calling them but have been on hold waiting for like a hour and a half. Has this happened to anyone and if so how do you correct this issue? Thanks for any help given. |

| I called tech support, tried what they said, didn't work, mailed it in for servicing past the warranty period with a nice note and they serviced or replaced it for free , then I sold it and got an Edirol UM880. It seems like if you are prepared to pay for getting it serviced you can send it in and they might not charge you. Seeing as thats roughly how mine died one might suspect a faulty part but who knows, each time I turned it on it would not complete the initialization light blinking procedure or get stuck in that procedure. . |

| quick question, I'm considering getting another UM880, if you use 2 at once connected to one computer, do you have to like turn on the computer, then turn on each UM880 in a certain order to get the ports to be numbered correctly in the sequencing program? thanks! |

| It needs the new firmware. File a support claim on their website and they will mail you the firmware. I did this with a 5yo 8x8 and it's fine. Easy easy fix. Quote:

| Gear interested | I've had problems with my 8x8s on and off, particular when I power them up from my main power source. Sometimes all the lights will just turn on and usually a power cycle will take care of it. I've had times where I cannot solve it, but if I leave the unit off for a while, usually it will come back to life again. |

| I'm just having the same problem. As of today the problem use to be solved by unplugging any midi port, usb and CV cable. But now it still frozen and no way to make it work. I hope could solve the problem with the firmware thing. Hot Lipps, Did it work for you? Thanks in advance. Gus66 |

| Did you try installing the eeprom that M-audio will send you for free if you simply mention this exact problem to them? I think they suck too, but I fixed this same problem by installing the new firmware. Quote:

It is cheap and tacky, and the drivers (updated, naturally) have given me nothing but trouble. Recently I've given up on the whole USB aspect and just plugged it into my MIDI interface. Not sure I'd buy anything by M-Audio again. | |

| Gear maniac | Sometimes usb just fails. Ive had it plenty of times where I've thought that something USB has broke only to discover that it works perfectly after a fresh instal of the OS. - and I recall one of these bits has been a 2x2 midisport [Im not telling you to wipe the PC by the way , Im just mentioning that sometimes it's not the device] |

| Can the midisport be used as a through device? E.g no computer, midi in spitting out to other midi devises or does it have to hook up via a computer/usb? Thanks |
