Got a MicroKorg For Chrimstmas!!

Wahey, merry Christmas guys I'm now the proud owner of a MicroKorg VA Synth+Vocoder and have to say i'm very very impressed with this little thing indeed.

I come from a soft synth background mainly (But play guitar and keys) and this was an unexpected surprise!!

Ok so it's not a Minimoog, but It's SO easy and fast to dial in a great sounding bass or lead on this thing.

I now know where all the hardware dudes are coming from in regards to sound quality of soft vs hard, Some of the presets on this thing gave me goosebumps!!

Once I got through the usual dance type sawtooth arps presets we have all heard before I got to some really fat sounding "Prophet" like pads and strings,

The demos on the korg website do NOT do this thing justice, theres an 80's synth bass patch on this that is just screaming out to be used.

I've heard all the debate on this vs other similar budget synths but have to say this does EXACTLY what i need it to do and i'm happy with it

I'm not a preset guy but there is also a Moog stlye bass preset that is SO good,
nothing i've used in the soft world comes close imo.

Editing is a breeze once you spend 5 mins with the manual, and the Vocoder sounds superb!! instant staisfaction (No i dont work for Korg lol)

I keep finding myself playing Daft Punks "Veridis Quo" endlessly with the phones on LOL

Cool! Congratulations! I can't wait until I can afford my first hardware synth. I just got my first software controller this Christmas so I'm a ways off still but, the time will come!

Thanks Man, It was totally unexpected, I recommend it highly when you look into getting your first hardware synth,
dont be put off by the comments about only having 4 note polyphony
( for me, in a mix, playing a synth pad with too many notes gets cluterred imo)
I read somewhere it wasnt good for pads/strings, but they were SO wrong.
I got Gary Numan/Prophet5 type pads in about 5 mins after twaeking a preset.

Heh cheers man, i actually just found out about them recentley, love their tunes im a "bit" of an 80's funk fan ever so slightly

did they actually use the MicroKorg on this track?

Been tweaking about more with mine and the Synth clav sound is Damn funky, especially with some mod wheel vibrato!!

The filters on this thing get nice and juicy if set right!!

A great synth. I even wouldn't say it is a little synth. LOL. IMHO it is a very capable synth and sounds great!

Mine has been sitting next to me for 3 years, and only used the vocoder a few times.
Not my favorite synth, vocoder is nice though.

Glad you like it!

I've had my microkorg for 3 years and love it but, I could never get the vocoder to work right.
