Hear my Minimoog, Jupiter8, Motif XS and Miko in action

I did a remix of Saul Williams "Banged and Blown through". I layered all of the music you hear, on top of his voice. I did the Drums on the Mpc 2500. The main synth riff is the Motif XS. The bass is Minimoog doubled with the Motif. The lead synth that comes in on the second verse is the Jupiter 8. Everything was recorded into Cubase 4 on the Open Labs Miko.

to tell truth...I dont like it

I dont feel that Bass..vox are tooooo upfront and no space ..PROBLEM with BAD midi timing or your groove is not quatized....

Need some reverbs on vox and better definitions on sounds...

I like it
but....vox are upfront and no space at first..
at the end sounds awesome
also i hear a Bad midi timing, or groove not quatized right.... or some samples are not cutted right
speciallly at first snare roll, ta,at,ta,ta

also I feel its too slow tempo,
and lead synths feel shy in the back

vocals

thanks for the replys. I tracked each instrument live, so no midi. I'll try and sync up vocals and drum track tighter and do a couple more mixes.

I like the bassline
the snare can be a bit more loose, sounds too sequenced
lead vocal is ok bit loud, but at 2.40 the mix sort of falls apart when it should really take off.
the guitars are a bit like lobster after desert. the lead synth is a bit ehm .. neglected?

Sounds fine except that the snare's too loud, too strident plus the timing of the drums in general seems stiff.

I think the idea is great.

- Got a nice 80's style loose feel to it.
- would use a better reverb, delay and eventide harmonizer on the vox
- a bit of better compression on the bass, vox, drums and main buss will bring all together nicely.
- adding a nice hipass strings/pad to the song would give it the lift it needs (juno 106 type)
- Perhaps a subliminal tambourine in the hook will also lift it a bit
- overall the vocal needs to sit a bit better in the mix.

Please don't mix the vibe out of it.
I really like the idea. NICE!

PS the snare; try to gate that rev effect after the snare or if it's on it's own track mute it and only bring it in at around 54sec or at 105 sec in the pre-chorus.

That may help with the bad timing perception some people have of the snare.
