Your number one "electronic music instrument" you turn to for fun and productivity?

Its tough to choose, but I gotta go with my Mono Machine.

Can spend hours on it, having alot of fun while being super productive - and I always end up with lots of original sounding and "organic" sounds.

Its incredible what this machine has done to my sound and the quality of my music overall..

So.. What synth or instrument is your number one for both fun and good end results?

Lets hear it folks..

DSI poly evolver - got it like 3 weeks ago, and its what I've been missing my whole life. It's my first poly analog synth. gratifyingly time efficient at creating the craziest patches.

Right now it's a tie between Xbase 999 and Prophet 08 both are very immediate to use and sound superb.

In fact, all of my most recent rig is designed for maximum fun and productivity. I have never been so happy with my setup as I am now.

I hear you Elektron guys though.... MKIIs mmmmmmmm

Another one for the monomachine....fun and, either ends up on the finished article or is a great sketch pad where ideas develop.

The MachineDrum is also a lot of fun, but doesn't end up on as much as I would like.

I can't see pickin' just one synth or effects box but I will say that my Rhodes never ceases to inspire me. Lately though, I've been getting alot of joy out of my Omega+Space Echo combo.

My Minimoog. I spend lots of time jamming on it over simple loops and just
improvising. Problem is, I keep forgetting to record it all....

Yeah it can be a bitch. I have had mine for 12 years though now, and know it inside out. Its weird getting used to all the blinking parameters on the screen. If you need a hand figuring something out, just pm me. Im happy to help!

Alex

edit - plus its cool to say you played with your log on your latest track

At the risk of sounding stupid, what is the "mono machine"?

I would love to hear the fruit of your inspirations... if any of you guys could post a mp3 that would be great.

For good end results it's been the Virus TI, deep, deep sounding machine. Nordlead2 always shows me something new, Voyager, it just depends on the song like Divine Chemical said. Lately it's also been my ASR-10 rack sampler with loaded with Vengeance-sound drums and effects, fun stuff.

Korg Oasys for me man. (and I have a whole lot of other synths - Ti's, Moog's, Modulars-galore, ...).

The Oasys is quite lovely.

I've been using the desktop Evolver to get the blood pumping. Mostly I love to process audio through it. Another thing I do with it is sample some wacked out noisy patches I've made then use the samples as oscillators or sources in Absynth and Reaktor.

Audio LSD.

I have a Waldorf Microwave XTk sitting in front of me so I usually turn it on if I have to test something quickly. However, it is usually the Andromeda which I turn on if I am thinking about programming new sounds. It is so easy to use because it has knobs for almost everything and it usually always sounds like I want.

The SH-101 - I can always go to and just make something happen with. often without really needing to think about what I'm trying to do, my hands will move the sliders, and a sound will be there. And I love the sequencer. I have a midi/cv box, but more often than not I'll just send it a clock signal from a drum machine, and work right there on the 101.

The minimoog is so amazing, and my favourite synth to just play. but I tend to get lost just playing it for hours at a time..... dunno if that counts as productivity, but it's great fun and makes me very happy.

It would be Machinedrum- its a „my first lego” experience every time I turn it on. I got a Monomachine but did not make good friends with it so far, Virus TI is pretty amazing too- bu for pure creativity MD is a killer.

FR 777. Just amazing how varied and raw that little box can be. Set up a 24 bar drumline, take the one osc and convert to acid rubber, flip some switches and you've got a growling / screaming lead over the pounding drums. love it love it love it.

i have to say that setup with sunsyn is pretty sweet. how do we like the sunsyn?
