virtual instruments with pro tools

I'm currently working on a pro tools 7.3 LE system and looking for some virtual instruments to play around with. I'm looking for something that has drum patches/decent piano patches and other synth sounding things. I'm not quite sure what i should be looking for in regards to this and what some quality virtual instruments are out there. The only thing i keep coming across is native instruments reaktor 5 which I'm not sure works with RTAS plugins. I'm pretty sure most virtual instruments you can load within protools as a plugin but I'd like to make sure and what to look for if you can't. any help is appreciated.

take $10 and order digidesign's xpand for starters. you can also download structure free as well. but digi should be kicked for thinking 60 patches is great but the ones that they do give you sound pretty cool and it's free. Also get fxpansion vst rtas convertor this will give access to an entire arsenal.

i actually have a little experience with xpand and I enjoy it for what it is. I was wondering if there's some other things out there with a little more sounds. Not saying i won't use xpand because i probably will but i also want something for good drum sounds which i think xpand is lacking in. I've been looking at bfd so if i hear some good things about that i might buy that. I'm looking for sounds to create experimental electronic sounds like black moth super rainbow/porcupine tree/radiohead/flaming lips ect..

Stylus RMX is really worth a look-in.

i read an interview of one of the guys from laming lips*, and he basically said loads of their synth sounds are straight from reason.

isn't reason lite included with protools these days?

*(probably on the propellerheads site, so you can take it with a grain of salt, but...)

thats cool that flaming lips used reason i actually didn't know that and yeah it comes with pro tools. I use reason a little bit and really like it but i've only used the lite version i might have to buy the full version just to see how good it really is. I just checked out that stylus RMX and thats exactly what im looking for and it isn't very expensive so I'll probably end up getting that. thanks for the help since i'm a noob at this stuff.

Reason has a kind of shitty sound, sounds a bit dull and lifeless in my opinion.
Although it has some nice features and is simple to understand, it sonically has its limitations.

You're better of with Reaktor IMO, it has lots more to offer and you won't get bored with it.
