Thread Starter | Sound Modules/Drum Machines Sample Rates Good Afternoon Fellow Gearsluts, I am once again at a point of making a few upgrades in the home studio setup. I am curious as to what is out there right now as far as stand alone sound modules and drum machines..... More specifically, WHO currently or over the past couple of years has made the stand alone drum machines and sound modules with the highest sample resolutions. I am currently using Alesis D4 and SR 16 with 16 Bit 44.1Khz. Also using Sonar 2.2 with an Audigy 2 sound card and supposedly some of the synthe voices are 24 Bit 96 Khz. Is there anyone out there in cyberland with comparison charts on the different manufacturers products? I know Sweetwater used to do this in their catalogs. I realize we are talking about pre packaged sampled sounds, but just wondering what is out there. Thanks in advance for the input.... Shawn ![]() |

| I wouldn't base your wants on sample rates and formats etc. Some of the best sounding drum machines are 12bit by alot of peoples standards. SP 1200, 909, etc, and alot of the older machines are reduced bit rate etc. I guess one that stands out as a newer model that really has some amazing features and sounds is the Machinedrum from elektron. I am not sure what you are interested in, but its a great machine worth mentioning here.

Thread Starter | Compare Hey Strobian, I agree... I'm first trying to see who has the big sample rates and compare side by side if possible. I'm really interested in seeing if there is REALLY a noticable difference. I remember when Alesis came out with 16 bit it was a really big deal...at least in the reviews... Had a 707 and it was cool But the SR 16 definately has bigger sound...to me anyway. Just wondering who is king of the hill these days... Thanks for the input Shawn |
