Native Instruments Kontakt 2

I need a soft sampling program in which i can import .wav file multisamples and control them with a midi keyboard. Piano roll to edit midi notes possibly. the feature to layer different samples together as well. I read about Kontakt 2 and it seems like it would work. Anybody have this program that could tell me a bit of how it works?

Kontak can easily do all of those features, and many more. I think that Kontakt is the best sampler out there, and i recommend it to everybody. It is easy to learn, fast and intuitive.

You can download the demo here, it will give you a good idea if you like it or not:

Cheers

kontakt is not $1300. NI complete is somewhere around that price.. but kontakt by itself is way cheaper.

i downloaded the demo from nativeinstruments.com...not the full version...

I am having a problem with the demo...hopefully this only happens with the demo

Yesterday I downloaded the demo and installed it on my mac. I opened up pro tools and brought kontakt up as a plug in. I messed around with it adding in some sounds and what not. I saved the session, quit. but when I came back to the session, I would try and open it but Pro Tools LE would crash. This only happens when I open up a PT session that had the kontakt demo plug in saved with it....I am guessing this happens because Native Instruments does not want people just download the demo and use it. 99.9% positive this is why. but i jss wanna make sure...anybody else had this happen?

I think that's a bug in the latest release, most people seem to be uninstalling version 2.2.1 and rolling back to 2.1.1 as it's more stable.

new update should be in the pipeline though.

I generally think that Native Instruments are very reasonable with their prices, often good discounts too. And NO dongle (Dongles ****es up my system...)

I am considering a soft sampler and I am choosing between Kontakt 2 and Tascam GVI. I have done extensive research on both and I am going to test the Kontakt 2 demo this weekend, but I don't think GVI has a demo. From the reviews I found on the net both are excellent programs.

I will be using the sampler more for realistic orchestral sounds than creating my own samples for the interim until I dive in the programs deeper.

I like that you will have more control to alter your sounds with Kontakt, but GVI has a broad and extensive sample library available, but a lot of libaries that were exclusively Giga are now becoming available for the Kontakt.

Kontakt seems to have been more active over the years with updates and info on there site descibing their products while Tascam seems to be a lot slower and less informative concerning updates and information on their site.

They are the same price $299.00 right now.

I am leaning toward Kontakt but would like to get more feedback before I make the final purchase.

Can you all give me some pros and cons for each and why of each program?
I already have Battery 3 and I love it!
