Looking for a synth-like midi controller

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a midi controller that looks like an actual synth (meaning: has an envelope section, filter section, 2/3 oscillators etc..)
Sort of like the Novation X-Station, only without the keyboard and audio capabilities.

I'm tired of not having parameter names next to my knobs and faders...

Thanks.

Im pretty sure , as close as it gets , it'd be the Novation Remote Zero due to its AUTOMAP / TEMPLATE / Scribble strip features.

any reason you cant tag the knobs those values have been assigned to with a sticker or marking?

I'm trying to create the feeling of tweaking an actual synth, without looking for the parameters every time.

I thought of getting a rack-mount Roland JP-8080 just so it could be a midi-contoller, but it's kind of pricey since I only need it for the midi.

Did anyone here try that with the JP8080?

Controlling the JP with an external MIDI controller [or vice versa]is relatively easy, as you can remap the MIDI Messages the front panel controls receive and transmit directly on the JP, no need for dedicated computer software in most cases.

the korg legacy ms-20 controller looks exactly like a mini ms20, which is aobviously synth like, has filter section, adsr and so on...

Yes!

I was just looking for an ms-20 controller on ebay, but at about 100$ it's not exactly a bargain...

Anyway, I think it's worth having just to fool people into thinking you actually own a tiny ms0-20....

if you can re-map the controllers then what about an old REDSOUNDS DARK STAR?

tons of pots and a vector joystick, built like a brick sh*tehouse - and they sound good
