I have read before that they run alot of bass and leads through the Sherman Filter Bank. Which is an amazing outboard filter capable of blowing up your monitors!! I think i read this in Future Music. It also sounds like they must use the Korg MS20. You can still buy the Sherman Filter bank i think... |

DX100 yes and no. I bought one a few years back because of this thread and couldn´t find the bass sound I was looking for. Then I realized that it does have the sound from the bass intro of the "mothership reconnection" remix, but not the bass sound I was looking for which is the main one during the track (that also sounds similar to the bass sound on Voyager). Still haven´t really found the other sound, but I guess that it´s a real bass guitar. Cheers, Christian |

that rolling bassline in the mothership remix sounds like a real guitar bass probably sampled and filtered, definitely not a dx-100, that one is best used by zapp, daft punk & chromeo solely in conjunction of a talkbox pedal for vocal effects not bass.. a lot of the other stuff mentioned here (korgs, rolands) do get used for bass however on tracks like voyager they play real bass through a mutator ( don't forget thomas bangalter was a bass player in their previous band darlin ). fred falke has also lend them hands as he was a session bass player before getting involved in house music with alan braxe..

| daft punk around the world bass line Daft Punk - Live @ Hultsfred Festival 1997 Part 9 - Around The World - YouTube check this video out at 5.50 on the video, just proves that the bassline in that tune was a synth, unless its a sample that they put through their mutator who knows! but that does sound like an MS20 to me...
