Show Down!! Original TB-303 vs. Audiorealism Bassline V2

I wanted to make a direct comparison between the original and a clone for the first time, when I heard the Audiorealism Bassline V2 Plugin.

Here is the result:

<!-- incode auto-link start -->http://www.subconsciousmind.ch/cgi-b...BasslineV2-RAW<!-- incode auto-link end -->
No processing - alternating original - clone

<!-- incode auto-link start -->http://www.subconsciousmind.ch/cgi-b...asslineV2-Dist<!-- incode auto-link end -->
Distorted - alternating original - clone

More left and first, the original, more right and second, the clone.

I find the clone sounds very impressive, the first clone getting the accents a little right, but still not as cool in my ears. Overall it still sounds more like plastic, but for the price it's a good deal. The original is still more liquid, warm.

To mention: my original is a little modified, I have more cutoff range (can close fully) and I have Midi In and Out, which uses a little too much power and this makes my 303 sometimes "flatter" a little. Furthermore EVERY 303 sounds different, so it is impossible for a clone to sound the same...

The distortion is the "overdrive" from cubase SX, same settings for both.

impressive. but i think the more you open cutoff the bigger becomes the difference, i.e. the audiorealism filter loses it with higher cutoff.
do you have phoscyon to compare with your TB?

am i allowed to steal the links to post in my forum?

Hi,

I have had phosycon, but the accents of it are so bad, that it wasn't worth comparing for me so far. Maybe I do it one day to check all the rest.

I've just found out how I can fix that "lfoish" which my 303 has because of the MidiMod. So I will do it and than do the comparison again. Maybe also take phosycon then.

Which Forum do you want to post it? But, yes of course, I assume you will also post the other info about the setup, since I believe it is important to know. Just give me the link so I can see what people say.

I'm on the waiting list for the x0xb0x. Seems to be the best/cheapest/coolest way to get a TB.

thanks for the comparison, 303 is no contest vs bassline. Close, but not even.

I'm on the xoxbox list too

Hey I fixed the problem with my 303. The "lfoish" behaviour is gone.

New examples are online (same links) it's more accurate now.

It hasn't quite got the mojo of a real 303 but its great never the less and priced very very reasonable.
I wonder if anyone can compare the abl2 to re-birth ?
