4 hero play w. the changes; SLUTTY!!!

PLAY WITH THE CHANGES;

i love this record for its songs but it is also a real audiophile gem.

definitely one to get on vinyl and put up on the linn or thorens.

not sure if it should be filed under the "electronic" category as the primary sound is STRINGS....

but you can hear all sorts of vintage goodness... the motown vibe nailed... or the mizell bros vibe i guess...

very mellow record... reinforced grows up!!!

guests include darien brockington / phonte (little brother) / jodey watley / and terry devos featured on a cover of "superwoman..." lovingly re-rendered note for note...

Just picked up the album too. Nice stuff, tho imo the mixes could be better. Not that they're bad tho, but sometimes they're a bit 'unclear'. I like very detailed mixes for this kind of music.

Enjoying the album anyway for sure

Marc & Dego are good friends... I will try and find out some techie info... the primary influence is the late 60's Chess/Cadet productions of Charles Stepney - especially on Morning Child which brings back that wonderful Minnie Riperton/Rotary Connection vibe.

That would be sweet

I love how their work has developped, especially if you know their earlier breakbeat stuff like mr. Kirk... you aren't that Kirk are you?

well that saves me having to ask.... says it all really... I remember Summit outboard and 414's from their previous studio... looks like the major difference now being the ditching of the large console and tape approach in favour of Logic.

Andy Hamill is a great bass player... we used the same setup (pick up + close ambient mic) on him for a track I did in the 90's.

the most impressive sound is the drums for me... and I don't wanna ask about the setup cos they probably don't wanna tell

they always used real string sections in the past...

Dego i have met over the phone when i made jungle in the backwaters of brisbane australia in 1992. He was so friendly to talk to some young kid on the other side of the planet who collected their early reinforced 12"s.

i also REALLY love a cd they did as "Nu Era" titled "Beyond Gravity" detroity kind of deep house. lots of arp 2600 and solina. i still listen to it regularly 12 or so years later...their music really stands the test of time. not all electronic music has that quality.

respect
