| Lives for gear | the patch editor/librbarian
my copy of unisyn is pretty old, and i don't think it even works on osx. pertty spotty support, and many of my synths are supported. i like the interface, though. i got sound diver as an answer to that. it covers pretty much all of the gear that i have. however, it's been beta for osx forever and i'm not at all sure that apple will be developing it any further - although i'd love it if they did. what are you guys doing with respect to patch editor librarians? if i could get one really working and supported i could get a bit more creative with synth sounds and so forth. i'd sure prefer to have some way to generate, organize, and store patches. obviously, i'm all mac here (well, linux too, but not in the studio). any thoughts on patch editor librarians. is support for synth hardware going to just totally dry up? |

Not exactly the same idea, but I've been thinking about using MS Excel or Google spreadsheet to keep track of information related to samples, multisamples, patches etc, etc. It seems like I lose time trying to remember patch descriptions which cannot be fully conveyed by the file name, and file location would be noted, or maybe a link to the file, likewise songs, song descriptions, sequencing techniques. You could rate each sample on various aspects and then search by those metrics, maybe overkill, but ?. Anyway I think it would be a cool way to view alot of things at once and take notes along the way. The various tabbed worksheets are easy to navigate, plent of room for description. maybe its just another way to procrastinate, but seems like a good tool for organizing things.

well, i know that the post folks rely on some sort of sample management system where they take all the sound fx cd's and load them into the computer, and then there is some database the lets you search for fx via a number of parameters. perhaps that same software would work for you? i am not currently using anything like that, but as i am typing this i think i should look into that too.
