Beautiful PPG man! Also, I really like what I hear, similar sound to what I'm shooting for. Nice work.

Hey, I am loving them! I came from Dynaudio Bm6a's and mixing on these is much faster than before. I can trust this speaker far more as they let me hear "deeper" into the mix and testing on multiple systems as reference things translate wonderfully.

When i was auditioning speakers I heard them side by side the Twin 6's, the SM9's seemed more revealing, extended much lower and more neutral sounding in comparison, but of course you will have to listen to them to be your own judge.

I Believe the gap between the two speakers is enough to warrant an upgrade as I originally was going to get the Twins but after auditioning both i walked out with the SM9's.

Do listen them first of course because not every speaker will suit your needs/tastes etc, but I am pretty sure coming from the Twin's you will not be disappointed!

I have not heard the Twins with a sub so i cannot comment on a direct comparison but it seems what the Twins are lacking the SM9's make up for!

In an attempt to impress the ladies or, worse yet, out of nostalgia, a lot of users go great lengths to cram every bit of junk they've hoarded over the years into their studios, when the reality is that 95% of the gear does not even get used at all. However, it still takes up valuable space, needs to be maintained, cleaned and dusted.

The usual problem when setting up a studio is that there are too many pieces of gear that belong in the middle of the desk: the computer keyboard and mouse, the mixer, the MIDI keyboard, the pad controller, the DAW controller e.g. Mackie Control Universal, etc). One can buy a bigger desk, of course, but our arms are only so long. I find that the desk width should not exceed 120cm, otherwise it won't be easy to reach for your gear.

Things like the Mackie Control Universal make me laugh very hard, they literally take up your whole desk space, leaving no space for more important bits such as a MIDI keyboards, a computer keyboards etc. I also was lured by the hype into buying a Mackie Control Universal. Once I set it up it was so inconvenient having it in the middle of my desk that it ended up to one side and was hardly ever used. Eventually it went on eBay. The extra desk space it left behind was far more useful than the MCU itself ever was.

So, in summary, a lot of these "impressive" studios are no better than a lot of in-the-box studios yet they require much more effort to maintain and compromise ergonomics and, in turn, the quality of our work.

What's so bad about nostalgia? Sure, it's a hell of a drug, but hey.

Sitting in the same spot (which gives that 120 cm rule) is necessary when mixing, not so much when tracking. Desk chairs have wheels. More than one person can be in the studio at a time.

I'd be careful with sweeping conclusions about any studio; if it's the output that counts, then you can't derive that from just a picture.

Ergonomics is about adapting the environment to your body, not the other way around. But you are right that it's the output that counts.
