I am feeling the pinch with just 16 tracks. 32 channel for me would be perfect. Right now as it is im doing alot of sub mixing with just seperating key parts of my samplers and drum machines. 32 channels with ad/da would be a dream for me.
If the GS R24 didn't cost 10k I would have a GS R24. but right now the plus side of my mixer is i have AD/DA built right in, which makes working OTB like this even easier than loading a plug in and doing the same thing in the box. If I didnt have the R16 I would probably have given up on hardware.
Trust me if there is anything I need to upgrade...its getting a console at this point. Just budgeting for it. and outboard compressors.

I have a rotary phone in my studio too! I keep forgetting to make it more visible in the pictures because it's at the back. But I love the juxtaposition!

If a bit cheaper, I would be all over the GS R24 too. I opted for a much much cheaper used Soundtracs Topaz.
BTW: Love your studio. I admire when there is a combination vintage and new, digital and analog, modular and non-modular, mono and poly synths. Yet the studio has a very classy classic look.

Pretty sick, but is that an Origin? Never understand how anybody could justify buying one of those at their price... I bet you have a lot of fun in that space.

It's an Origin and it fits in very well with the analogs; yes, the Origin sounds clean, but once processed in the mackie with old aux effects, it's another story...
The product descriptions I have read of these in the past are a little vague. I'm thinking that they are saying that the compressor in these is not the same as their dedicated compressor unit, do you know if that is right?

Hey Matt,
Sorry for the late reply. Fairman's made 2 dedicated compressors (well actually more but they are not commercially available). To me they both sound different to the TRCs VCA based comp although the TMC comes closer. If you got the money, go for it. It's an amazing piece of gear, soon not available anymore as Werner Fairman only produces very limited amounts of gear these days...
it would be cool if people posted a pic of the studio - and a audio track of their music made in it
Definitely! Let's see what I can do...
In the pic you can see my live setup (I have already posted them in the "live pics" thread), not my studio, but I'm currently building a corner to establish this setup (plus the other similar stuff) into my studio.
The second pic shows my favorite high-quality-noise maker and my ultra-high-end digital recorder.
And in the Soundcloud clip you can hear what it sounded like on that evening in June...
Never listen to opinions regarding gear. For every 50 nobodies on Gearslutz that say a piece of gear doesn't sound good enough to cut it, I know at least one somebody who is cutting it in NYC with that piece of gear.
How is the keyboard of the korg? Very sexy machine I was tempted when I was looking for a "living room" digi piano (went for an uncool but "save bet" classic looking one in the end though).
Is that a perfume bottle and washbag on the right lower alcove? Like to be freshend up when making music huh?
My new Atari st based hardware production center. Still working on getting the Akai rack units back in the game but the Asr10 has been stealing their thunder lately
Is that a rhythm king? Great samplers. All you are missing is an asr10...
