I've spend the last few months buying, selling, and trading gear, and now I am very happy and content with my set-up. Not the best room, but it's what I have to work with in the house I'm renting now.

More than anything, great music melts my face! I think we should post links to albums with all pictures, so we can hear all the gear in action.

i think its real AND shopped. ie 2 exposures, one showing interior, one exterior, shopped together. i would've thought that the view would be over exposed if the studio were correctly exposed.

Don't be too hard on him. We all start with the foam when we are young and inexperienced.

My setup in 1997:

Boy did my mixes suck back then!!!!!!!!!

15 years later after finally realizing the futility of foam:

My mixes are now good enough to earn a decent living composing.....and my room looks much better.

alright.. nice setups... but why do you need so many synths? i mean hardware synths. isnt one enough? seriusly. seriusly. when there is so many softsynths...
and if you connect a hardware synth into a daw it will be digital.

Many different hardware synths have their own characteristics, both in terms of audio and feel. They are instruments, and like guitars, each one is different, and so for musicians it is beneficial to try and have different ones for different things. It is much different than the modern "producer" mentality, in which people who aren't musicians are making music.

This is Gearslutz, so that's like asking a woman why she needs more than one pair of shoes.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with "showing off" your music room, especially when others are genuinely interested in seeing it. Look how many people have visited this thread.
We like to look.

You wandered into a thread called, "pics of your slutty setups" to tell people that they're showing off?

It must be Thursday. I never could get the hang of Thursdays.

Frank

Never listen to opinions regarding gear. For every 50 nobodies on Gearslutz that say a piece of gear doesn't sound good enough to cut it, I know at least one somebody who is cutting it in NYC with that piece of gear.

Dude. I'm an atheist but I don't go into a church on a Sunday morning asking everybody why they believe in God.

Just had a listen to a few of your tracks. Nice work mate!!
It sounds like it belongs in a movie soundtrack.
My favourite was "Midnight", that guitar sounded awesome. Did you play it?

It would be great if more people provided music links too, 'cos as good as it is to see these fantastic set-ups, it is even better to hear them in action.

They're 8250A. They're fantastic and super detailed sounding. I've actually written a lengthy review describing the pros and cons of these babies. Check it out: Genelec 8250A

Having only 1 synth doesn't guarantee it either

I'm personally trying to keep my setup as minimal as possible. I'm actually pondering on selling the Voyager... That way I would have only two really good analog monos (the modulars) which I love using all the time. I also use the Voyager all the time but it's not nearly as versatile sound character wise as the modulars so... I try to keep only the gear which fits in those two racks.

My minimalism also goes for the software I use: I use as few plugins as possible.
