The slight problem with verb ITB is that you have to use it pre EQ and pre insert...plus route the bus tracks out of the daw...actually I suppose you could use some IO on the interface, keep latency low and send into the box from the aux...?

In a perfect world Id get a 24 channel Soundtracs Topaz or DDA interface (saw Topaz on SOS for £250 the other day!!!) and 24ch SSL Alphalink converters. As you say - a few decent hardware boxes...Rumour, Mangler, V-Verb Pro...couple of DBX160, RNLA, RNC and the 1968 on the master. Not too expensive but it would kick ass...compared to a UAD2 Apollo Omni.

Dont know much about Soundcraft...always seemed like their EQ freq choices was a bit limited in the low end...

What compressors you got your eye on? I think there are some great mid end comps around...I can see a TL Audio lurking down there...
You can do post fader itb verb like you suggest. I would record everything dry without eq then bounce to the desk or just to outboard. Another method is to audition the eq with post fader verb then simply render the eq'd track and then apply verb to that itb afterwards.

I've had my hands on a few desks and yes the soundcraft eq is not the best or most versatile compared to high end desks. But my experience of the 6000 was that it was impossible to do a bad mix on it.

The TLA comps are to be sold, i have an ivory and a C1. I may keep one of the low end drawmers for coloration and my focusrite green is pretty nice for drums, but will probably go. I would like an API comp I think, as replacement.

Iam new here ^^

Hi @all , many awesome peoples with amazing stuff here o.O.
iam new here, but was read often here in the forums ^^

Shortcut to me: iam not a real musican but iam a music , computer and tech nerd XD.
I prefer mostly sound like Dream Theater, I.Maiden , Steve Vai etc but i like a lot of other kinds of music too.

Since my childhood where i had a C64 (later Amiga´s) i was fall in love to computer synthesizer music. My first synthi to check out the world of Keys was an D-50 where i was 18 ^^ but i was sold it again , i was need the money, years later i got an jp8000 .

The last 3 Months i was work a lot and got good money where i was "wasting" all in Music stuff (see pictures) i cant read notes but i play by look and feel (just4fun) :P .
I love it and was dreaming a long time from the V-synth GT where i got unlasting last Month

Oki, here my (in comparison with otheres here) small equip but enough to check out and learn for me, lol :D

Thanks! The desk is also somewhat custom as well. It was originally this desk, then I split it in two and added a rack section in the center. I also mounted a second shelf on the right side to even out the space. The glass tops are lit with LED strips attached to the back as well.

Would you mind sharing where you purchased that great desk?

This is the view from one of my speakers. I tried to keep everything in the alcove but as you can see I've spilled out into an L shape.
My room is quite small so I had to put the speakers on the opposite side of the room from my crappy Ikea table. I tried having my samplers and the Cheetah MS6 where the FX are now positioned but the table couldn't take the weight. I had to take one of the side pannels off my MPC 60 so that my MIDI keyboard and Cirklon would fit.
The laptop under the table(on top of the XRI300) is connected to the monitor, white keyboard and trackball off to the left.
The stand for the MC50 used to be a little table but I changed the top for part of an old drawer to give me enough space to put laptops (or in this case sequencers) on.
The edge of the monitor you can see and computer to the left of the photo is my internet computer. It's sitting on a table made from a keyboard stand 2 bits of MDF painted black and some little legs from Ikea.
Not pictured is a P3 which is tucked away in a box while I try and convince myself the Cirklon can replace it, an RME multiface behind the 909 and a Fostex VC8 adat converter behind the MPC60. The Multiface and VC8 connect to the Saffire pro 26 to give me 24 analogue ins/outs for my DAW.
Ignore the date on the photo. The clock in my camera wasn't set.

Most efficient use of space in this thread so far? I should take a cue from that — although I have a fraction of the amount of gear, it's splayed all over my apartment.

Hello! Acid Mitch, what do you use the EHX G OD pedal on? I have used it on bass and electric guitar with success, but do you use it on synth?

Thanks!

Me too

If anyone knows where I can get a floppy drive caddy for it let me know.
I was using one from a PC case tied in with string(the mounting holes didnt line up) but it didnt quite fit proerly so I removed it when I got my CF reader. Wouldn't mind a proper one so I can fit a CF drive or zip internaly.

Thanks. Took me a while to get things set up like that. For me it makes quite a big difference when working and it leaves me space to move / live in my room . My table top has became like one big control surface.

Yes , I mostly use it on my Moog Voyager and Oakley TM3030 TB303 clone (the biege box above the Voyager with the red Kenton control Freak sitting on it) . It sounds good. Never used it on guitar or anything non-synthy.
The fx pedals i use as inserts (g OD , Proco Rat , Small clone, small stone) are connected to a patchbay to make routing signals easier and less messy.
I have the delays (Memory boy and RE20 Space Echo) and reverbs (Lexicon MPX1 and Alesis XT) connected directly to an adat coverter and use them as sends from my DAWs mixer.

damn that is perfect.. no matter what there are two hardware pieces I'll always lust over, a Virus TI and Modular synths

anyways, here's a better shot of my current ridiculously simplistic setup, I am moving to a new apartment in a couple of days but it'll be pretty much the same thing cept with a window behind the desk and some guitars and pedals around

Aren't your wrists hurting because of this? I wouldn't mind having just that as a setup, I'd however demand a separate keyboard and a mouse.

Here's a picture from when I was setting up my space with the new mostly ITB setup. It's still pretty much looking the same (wires are connected now, Steinberg interface is where the empty slot was).

If I ever get it to work properly I'll tell you. Right now the MR816x (firewire interface) doesn't seem to want to work with the 64-bit Maschine client. It works in 32-bit but I don't want that. And Automap is giving me a hard time.

But the sound quality of the stuff I've worked on so far is fabulous. I'm still getting set up though... haven't really done any audio recording at this point (guitars, bass, vox).

And the kids love the studio... but they kind of prefer guitars to keys at this point. Not that they can play anything... they just like to hold them.

Made a few big purchases lately so I thought it was worth updating.... still no acoustic treatment but I'm working on a 3d model with bass traps and treatment which I hope to implement sometime in the next year... hopefully a year from now this will look more like a studio and less like a "chill" room. Anyways here's where I work -
